I wish the 854 NRX was rated to 1oz instead of 3/4oz but lol this thread is fun to read.

The nrx’s are underrated on their weight ratings imo, a while back I tied in a 7” senko with a weighted hook onto my nrx 804c didn’t think anything of it, weighed it later on and the senko alone was just over an ounce and that rod didnt break a sweat throwing it, caught a few nice fish too. As far as the op’s question I’m old school with jig rods and like shorter ones, I feel they have better sensitivity without giving up much power

The two high end rods I have use were GLX 893, awesome sensitivity but was stiff and the reel seat was uncomfortable.

The second is a Dobyns Xtasy 755, now this rod is awesome and I love it. The balance is perfect, reel seat is comfortable and I can fish it all day.

There's a reason why the dobyns is still in my arsenal and the Loomis got the boot after 2 months of fishing it.
