crimefighter3 Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 I'm looking to buy a boat that has a Lowrance Depth Finder up front and no unit at the console. The one unit is OK for now, but doesn't give the water temperature. Does anyone know of some kind of unit/device :-/ where I could drop a sensor in the water and get the water temperature. When the money is right I will be buying 2 new Fish Finders w/GPS and I want have this problem. Looking for a temporary solution. THANKS Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 18, 2008 Super User Posted February 18, 2008 I believe Hummingbird makes a portable Water temperature gauge for around $20 but I be danged if I can find it on-line. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted February 18, 2008 Super User Posted February 18, 2008 All you need is a string, some weight, and a rectal thermometer. A couple of bucks at the most. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted February 18, 2008 Super User Posted February 18, 2008 Walmart usually sells a MinnKota water temp gauge for around $20. Quote

Super User Wayne P. Posted February 18, 2008 Super User Posted February 18, 2008 I use the MinnKota temp guage. I has a 23' cord with probe for water temp, an air temp sensor and a clock. It is powered by a single AAA battery. I also have two spares. It is model #MKA-38 Quote
crimefighter3 Posted February 19, 2008 Author Posted February 19, 2008 Thanks. I'll stop by Wal Mart. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted February 19, 2008 Super User Posted February 19, 2008 Jig Man, It's obvious you live in the deep South. Although I haven't seen a rectal thermometer in years, I doubt that it would read any temperature below, say 80. Since the water temperature in my local lakes is hovering in the low forties, I doubt that a rectal thermometer would be of much use to me. ;D Quote
