Brew City Bass Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Was on a pretty decent frog bite today at my lake, although, the bass weren't extremely accurate. Only went 2 for 10 on them actually getting it in their mouth. The two I got inhaled it, but the other ones just popped the frogs up in the air. I found it quite hilarious and amusing. I'd say the highest one popped in the air was d**n close to 6ft. I am 6'3" and it came pretty close to being higher in the air than my head even with standing on the bow of the boat. What's the highest a bass has ever sent your topwater airborne? 1 1 Quote
Glaucus Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 A few feet maybe. Never had one pop a bait in the air to that extreme. Though if it did happen I hope that I had some beers in me and a buddy present because that would make my life. Awesome. 2 Quote
Smalls Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 I had one send an Arashi cover pop like 4/ 4.5 feet in the air. Twice. Within 10 seconds. I was absolutely baffled at how he was able to hit it that hard and still miss both #2 trebles. Only thing I could think of was that it was sitting over a submerged lily pad when he hit it. I wasn’t even mad, just impressed. 1 Quote
Black Hawk Basser Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 I can't remember a bass sending something of mine really high, but a muskie launched my WP 130 a few feet into the air earlier this summer. Couple days ago I had a good soft plastic toad bite going, and a couple feisty 3 lb'ers launched themselves a couple feet out. This is what it's all about! 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 13, 2018 Global Moderator Posted August 13, 2018 I've had some smallies knock a plopper a long ways in the air. The prize goes to channel cats tail slapping buzzbaits 10' or higher in the air though. 1 Quote
MrFrost Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 Not the same, but I have attempted to set the hook on a blow up on my hollow body frog before, that was missed and knocked about a foot in the air, and my hook set was so strong that the bait flew right at me. Only to learn by recasting into the blow up spot that it was a d**n frog attempting to get my bait! 1 Quote

They're so territorial and aggressive. I've caught a few on buzzbaits, spooks, ploppers, but the most I've caught were on frogs. They're mean. 1 Quote

Sometimes, they don't even get hooked, they just hug the crap outta my frog and ride it to the bank! I wish the bass bite was as strong as a bull frog hug, lol. 1 Quote
