airborneduckhunter Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Does anyone fish this lake with any success? I have fished it a few times and only caught a couple fish. I like the way the lake looks as the water clarity is pretty clear. i fished it a couple weeks ago and got a couple soft bites but no takers. I am just trying to expand my horizons on where I fish. its about an hourish from my house so i want to maximize my potential when I make that run. I have been told by a few people that the clarity makes it hard to fish. I did notice on my last trip a lot of fingerling bass following my baits in on retrieves and the only fish i ever caught were small and that was last year when i fished. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Quote
RCCA Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Always heard it was better at night. Try that. Good luck. Quote
Swampghost Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 It can be a good lake but can also be challenging. We've had some good days (more so in the past) and pretty fair nights. Some are tough though. Which areas are you trying? Quote

I have been to the western fork with lily pads and lost one on a frog in the pads. I have stayed north of the gap and caught a couple. Gonna try again soon I hope. lots of exploring to do still. Nitreaux Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 I've fished it twice in my life. First time more than 40 years ago. Most recently about 4 years ago. No fish on the recent trip and probably none back then either because nothing comes to mind in regards to catching anything. If I was going to make another trip I think I would start with downsized line and lures hearing that the water is that clear and the bass seen are small. I'd rather get bit on a beetle spin than throw a crankbait all day without a bite. Quote
Swampghost Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 It's not quite that bad. We fish some dogfights there every other week. It normally takes 7 or 8 pounds to win. These are a 3 fish deal from 7 pm to 11. 2 Quote
