As some of you know I had an issue with my Garmin Echomap Chirp 73 ( See Garmin malfunction ). They asked me to send it into them, which I did. Tracking shows they received it yesterday. I called this A.M. to see if they had looked at it yet. The customer service rep put me on hold while he checked into it. He came back and said this unit was not considered repairable, and they would send me a replacement, but as they didn't have any more of the non plus units to send, they would replace it with one of the newer plus units. From what he said these use the same transducer, power cable etc. so all I have to do is mount the new cradle, plug everything in, and I'll be good to go.

Even better, they are overnighting it so I'll have it tomorrow. Can't ask any more than that. It's nice to see a company that still has good customer service.

Given how many people trash companies when things are wrong, it's good to see them get praise when praise is do

That is some stellar customer service. File that under "above and beyond".

That's awesome to hear, heck I even had great customer service from them from their Twitter account when I couldn't figure out why my 128GB microSD card wasn't working (32GB max).

I dealt with their customer service once and it was very quick, easy and helpful. I hardly see anyone on the water around me with Garmin electronics, always Lowrance or Humminbird, and I've always wondered why.

I think it's because on newer boats, those brands integrate with other specific engines and trolling motors seamlessly. Just a guess though as I have an older 1986 boat and the Yamaha 2 stroke and Motorguide TM integrate with nothing.

True, I barely thought of that since none of mine are integrated either, and I'm on a 2010 Lund.

I've always heard great things about Garmin customer service.

I'd say you hit the fishing electronics lotto jackpot!

UPDATE-- slight oops--- As of last night I had not received a tracking #, so I called them just now. It did not ship yesterday. What happened was the customer rep. was actually too nice. He told me the unit they were shipping me should have the latest software, but just incase it didn't, he would also send me a card with the latest software on it. Here was the oops. Garmin is running a couple day behind on the cards, so they were waiting to ship until they had a card to go with it. Kinda like the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. After talking to them this A.M they will ship the unit out today and the card later. they are still overnighting the unit so If I get it tomorrow I'll set it up tomorrow night and head to the lake to try it out on Fri. I really can't complain, still great customer service. On a side note he said I'll love the plus unit, the screen is supposed to be much clearer.

Garmin has excellent customer service. Never had to use it with my fish finder but did once with there hunting dog tracker and they are top notch for making things right.

Have dealt with Garmin several times on questions about my unit. Have been 100% satisfied.

UPDATE II--- the plus unit arrived this morning. Everything was as I was told. I just had to swap out the cradle and plug the transducer and power cable in and it fired right up. We're heading out fishing tomorrow so I'll have a chance to really try it out. After I use it for a while I'll write and give a review.
