Super User NHBull Posted August 7, 2018 Super User Posted August 7, 2018 Sometimes just being along is rewarding enough. I also find that when alone my I fish different. I stop for a coffee, hit spots many don't consider, and don't feel like I have to put people on fish. I can target larger ones and today was a great example. Compared to what many post, these are minnows, but 4 that were between 3.2 and 4.1 is a great day. 19 Quote

Yakalong Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 I agree with you about fishing alone. Go at your own pace and fish how you want to and not have to think about others in the boat. 1 1 Quote

BassNJake Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Almost all my fishing is done alone and I prefer it that way. My tourney partner and I will pre-fish different areas of the lake and then share notes leading up to the tourney. This really helps when patterning fish and covering multiple areas. My home lake consists of 2 rivers that have a dam where they converge, so 800+ miles of shoreline. When I first moved to TN one of the old timers told me to be successful at Norris lake all you have to do is fish the points and the creek channels. Brad in Texas Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 I always fish worse from my big Meyers Sportspal canoe with a companion angler up front. I find myself making for adjustments for the other angler, being accommodative, not concentrating enough on my own "game." For me, fishing with friends alongside in our own separate kayaks, a whole different story. Very enjoyable because we can talk but aren't actually limiting each other in the angling sense. I do go out solo quite a lot and since the competitive edge isn't firing off, I do what you do and try places and things I might not otherwise choose. Brad Quote

Super User TOXIC Posted August 8, 2018 Super User Posted August 8, 2018 I like fishing alone on my boat. I also like fishing with a partner but what I really like is fishing on the back deck of my buddies boat. I spent 15 years guiding, I know how to handle a boat and keep people on fish but when I am on the back deck of the boat, it's not uncommon for me to out fish my partner. Along with that, we have a great time. He always comments that he's never seen anyone fish the back deck like I do. He never has to worry about placement, speed, or anything to do with fishing because I know how to make the back deck work to my advantage. I have a system that allows me to catch fish no matter what my partner is doing. I can relax and we have a great time. 3 Quote

It's funny you say that.......it has been really windy lately and wind doesn't effect fish in my lake as it does in others. I use spotlock a lot and love being able to be on the back of the boat when nessessary Quote

Brew City Bass Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Hell yeah, brother! I use to hate fishing alone, I'd always find a friend to go. Then something changed this year and I love going alone more than anything else. Like you said, I don't have to play guide and worry about my co-boater having a good time. I always know how to have myself a good time and I usually am on better fish when I am alone. No worries about back boating my buddies or forking over my sandwich when they inevitably forget to bring food and drinks. 1 1 Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted August 9, 2018 Super User Posted August 9, 2018 My all time favorite is ....you get on the lake....travel down or up several miles...start fishing...bout a half hour or so goes by and all of a sudden they ask...what time you thinking about going in...(then they give reason they have to be back home in a couple hours)....errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Now...If I take someone new it's......meet me at the ramp.....no hard feelings.....k 1 Quote
