Will this reel work?

So I have an awesome salmon fishing spot around 10 min away from my house and want to catch a lot of salmon in this autumns king run in california but I don't want to buy a whole new fishing setup. I have my curado K which I would love to use instead of buying another reel just to fish with it for 3 months out of the year. but I'm not sure if it will have enough drag power for these fish (they fight hard averaging at probably ten plus pounds per fish). or will it be capable of casting much heavier lures. what do you think? will my curado  be able to handle these fish as long as I put it on a heavier rod or am i asking to much of the reel.

wow great catch... so I think I'll stick with the reel, now I need to figure out what type of rod to get

I am usually vertically jigging 2 to 3 Oz jigs and accasipnally cast a big 1 Oz spinner. so maybe I'll get like a heavy power fast rod that I could fish with for bass and salmon... I really don't know what do get rodwise.

The curado K will hold up just fine, the Micro Modual gearing will help with your concern for lures. I've used Tats for fishing Steelies and Kings when they come into the west Michigan river system's and I religiously will stick to low profiles for doing so. I used my buddies Curado I last year for salmon and was hooked. From my understanding you guys get some brutes so idk if it will wear the reel down but I have a Tat that's been going 3 seasons strong for steelies.

yeah, found out the water I fish in is brackish, so the Curado is out of the picture. but luckily I was just gifted an Abu Garcia ambassadeur that is pretty much new that will work perfectly, now the rod is my next question I think I'll use a medium hvy  bass rod for the rod. all I do is throw big 1oz spinners and jig spoons up to 3 Oz so it should be fine.

When I first moved to the Pacific Northwest  I tried a MH all star bass rod I had. I can tell it didn't go well for it. Both of those reels will work check out okumo sst models priced fare made well BTW are you gonna bobber Dodge, float with eggs , drift  aka (floss) will also depend on what type of rod to get

Shimano says on their website that the Curado K is a go for saltwater. I would but a SST as mentioned below, those are my go to rods. 80 bucks on Fish USA is a steal and the spinning on there only run 70. I'd get a 8'6 MH for what your describing.

I am not doing any traditional salmon fishing technique I jig from shore vertically on top of some pipes that are like a chokepoint for the salmon to swim through. in order to run down the slough they have to swim through these pipes so i jig a heavy spoon in  6 feet of water and catch em that way. ( I know it may be confusing to picture how I'm fising) other than that I just cast big salmon spinners. I'm going to stick with the med hvy rod because a tutorial on YT said that for jigging med hvy works best.

are you saying you broke it or it was not good for the specific techniques ?

A med hvy bass rod was no match for a 20+ king salmon just make sure you got plenty of back bone for vertical I jigging
