So after a trip to the lake that saw me catching exactly nothing, I stop on my way home to get a bag of chips. The lady behind the counter gave me my change and when I looked at it something didn't seem right with the nickel.

I'm an amateur coin collector, as my father was and he left me his collection when he passed. This is the second buffalo head nickel I've gotten as change and the only one with a year that could be read. Cool, at least I think.

THAT is cool! i had a few of those from demolition of an old

porch on a main building of a college campus in WNY back

in the 70s. Others found even more (I was just a kid).

Funny that I recall some found were from around 1913-15...

but have no clue what mine were. Heck, i probably used them

at the five and dime store for some bubble gum back then, LOL.

Nice buffalo nickel. Old coins like that are getting harder and harder to find. I found a Indian head cent in my loose change a couple years ago and still find wheat pennies every once in a while.

Checking the internet thing for a value I found out that I profited about 85 cents from the value of the coin. I'm soooooo close to retirement.
