What's the best bass fishing lake around Shreveport?

I'm going to fishing around Shreveport, LA and curious which location is the best for catching bass.  So far I'm considering Caddo Lake, Lake Bistineau and the Red River.

Of those; I'd say Caddo. I know of some good ones coming from there. The river has suffered from flooding last couple of years and seems to have fallen off. I think Bistineau was full of salvinia a couple of years back according to some reports. I know it has plenty of cypress trees if that is your choice. Seems like Caddo does too but I've seen less of it than the others. I know a bass was caught there a few years back that would have been a LA. state record if the guy had been on this side of the lake.

Have y'all looked at Cross or Cypress Bayou?

Cross Lake would probably be your best bet in the Shreveport area. Florida strain bass are stocked in there now. It also has a substantial amount of cypress trees on the west side of it. When are you gonna be in the area? ?

I'm going to be there next March.  Cross is also one I'm considering but after the research I've been doing it seems Caddo Lake is the top choice.  Still lots of time to plan.

I'd love to fish Toledo Bend but I'm actually going to be fishing a tourney down there and we only have certain bodies of water we're allowed to fish.  They are Caddo Lake, Cross Lake, Lake Bistineau, Red River, Wallace Lake and Cypress Bayou Reservoir.

That's where I plan to do most of my fishing.  Booked my cabin for March already.  So far I think I have a game plan but still need to come up with a back up plan if I need to try a new location.

I've settled on Caddo for spending most of my time on and will try Cross as a back up if need be.  Got my cabin booked and tourney fees paid already.  I've been trying to do as much research as possible for Caddo and feel I know the lake fairly well for never being there.

 

If anyone here has experience fishing Caddo in March any input would be greatly appreciated.

That worm looks good but I never tried it there. My trips were in February but had great success with spinnerbaits, junebug senkos, black and blue laminate senko (kinda like Catt's worm), black and blue chattterbait with a paca chunk trailer, and a few on a gold rogue and a black neon jig. For those of you who live in the area, how are the conditions lately?  I know there's been some crappy weather.  I'm heading down there two weeks from today and hoping the fish will be active.
