Im getting ready to purchase 2 reels. I’m a little torn with the new reels about to hit the market. I’m normally a lews guy.  Anyway,my choices are Lews Hyer Mag, lews lite speed spool, lews pro magnesium, the 10-1 revo rocket or the new shimano dc.  Let’s hear your opinions or thoughts.

Have never had a problem with my Lew's reels per say but I have never been blown out of the water by them. They are solid performers and that's it. As far as Abu goes, I was not impressed with my Gen 3 Revo STX. Had a lot of problems with casting and just didn't feel worth the money to me. That being said I haven't had an Abu since then, maybe the new generation is more refined. Shimano on the other hand has done well for me, in many facets of fishing. I've used both saltwater and freshwater and spinning and baitcasting and never had an issue. Personally speaking, I think that the new DC is going to be a hit, and a big one at that. If the DC is the usual Shimano quality then I would be leaning in that direction. Been a long time since I have been seriously tempted to buy a reel but the bait monkey may have one this time...

x2 on the DC from the information given, what are you going to use the reels for?

I’m mostly a jig and plastic guy, so I guessing the 8.5 gear ratio?

I know what you mean haha. I have been selling like crazy on eBay and the fishing fund is so far 550.00.

It all depends. Do you have rods set aside that you have already selected for the reels? I would select the reel based on your applications, price range, as well as what balances the rods you plan to use best. The DC will be hard to beat.

So just Jigs and plastics? Would that be two separate reels or just one for both? If it was me I’d use just one for both.  Can’t have to many jig reels!

Another vote for the Curado DC. The other reels are fine, some different bearings here and there, slightly different spools, blah blah blah, but the DC is a different beast entirely. It's like buying a new car and you're considering whether you want a base model  Toyota Camry, the Camry with the performance package, the Camry with the premium package, or a Jaguar. They're all going to get you to where you want to be, but you're going to have a lot more fun with the Jag.
