EGbassing Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 Just caught my PB again. It was caught on one of those giant double willow spinnerbaits. As soon as I set the hook, it jumped. I'll never forget that. It had to be 10 lbs. Didn't get a weight but I did get a wierdly angled picture; it doesn't do him justice at all. For some reason the file is too big to upload. Any other way to do it? 2 Quote

My estimation when I was holding it up was about 10 - 11 lbs., but by the picture, I would say about 7 - 8 lbs. I always get bad camera angles when I take pictures of fish... Quote

Super User Dwight Hottle Posted August 1, 2018 Super User Posted August 1, 2018 Congrats on your PB. Here is a very similar picture of a 10-2 that was weighed. 1 1 Quote
Super User NHBull Posted August 1, 2018 Super User Posted August 1, 2018 Congrats, but all this double digit talk makes me crazy as I have yet to see a 6lber come out or my home waters Quote
CroakHunter Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 Awesome. Sad that it seems every fish you catch you can't ever get it all the way out of the water and you never have a scale. 1 Quote

I in no way want to come across as a jerk, but BUY A FRIGGIN' SCALE!!!! They are not that expensive and then you will know what your fish weighs!! Again, not trying to offend....✌ 2 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted August 1, 2018 Super User Posted August 1, 2018 Congrats! No way to get a proper weight w/o measurements or a scale. 1 Quote

What type of scale would you recommend? I've heard people say that the hook type damages their gills, and I've also heard that the clip on kind damages their jaw bone. Are either of those things true? I'd like to be able to weigh them but it wouldn't be worth it if it really decreased their chances of survival. 1 hour ago, Darren. said: Congrats! No way to get a proper weight w/o measurements or a scale. Yeah, as I said up there, I really want to weight them but I don't know which type of scale to buy. I release all mine so I don't want one that's going to damage their gills or something. 2 hours ago, CroakHunter said: Awesome. I would have lifted it up but I needed 2 hands to support its body because lifting one that big straight up by the lip can injure them. I only have 2 hands, so I couldn't have gotten a picture at all if I'd used them both to hold it. I also unfortunately go into full autopilot mode when I hook anything over 5 pounds... ? 2 hours ago, NHBull said: Congrats, but all this double digit talk makes me crazy as I have yet to see a 6lber come out or my home waters Thanks. You should come down to AL. The pond I fish regularly produces 5 - 10 pounders. The guides on Guntersville give you half your money back if you don't catch one over 5 pounds on a trip with them. ? Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 2, 2018 Global Moderator Posted August 2, 2018 Congrats on the new PB! The cheap Berkley scales from Wal-Mart are fairly accurate, they'll get in you in the ballpark at least. Hang a set of fish grippers from the hook instead of using the hook for easy use and to be safer on the fish. I use a cheap luggage scale off Ebay, they run about $5 and are amazingly accurate. Quote
Super User JustJames Posted August 2, 2018 Super User Posted August 2, 2018 Congrat, at least that half beautiful bass. 1 1 Quote

MichaelCopeland Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 Awesomeness! Congratulations on your new PB! Nice looking bass. If you're using an Android smartphone you can download the Image Shrink Lite app and downsize your photos before uploading them on here. I've been using that app for over a year now. Works great! ? 1 Quote
