So a couple months ago while fishing at La Cygne, which is about a 2,500 acre Reservoir, my son Lake decided to see if this net my parents gave him would float in the 15' deep murky water, it did not, sank pretty fast actually much to the dismay of the misty eyed 4 year old as he stood in the back of my boat.
Well Friday I was fishing close to the same area with a 6XD bumping along the bottom when it caught something but didn't feel like a fish. Could not believe when I saw his net rise from the depths, still in good shape even minus needing wiped down. Never would have guessed in a million years I'd ever be able to do that.

Awesome! How excited was your son to see it?

He was pumped, couldn't believe I caught it either.

@Bluebasser86, I still have my GoPro and tripod in the lake since last year, would you be kind enough to come and fish it for me? Lol

What I find incredible is you using a crankbait .

I'm trying, I use to catch a majority of my fish with them but it's like the fish have just stopped eating them around here, and it's not just me. I did catch a fish on it too.

Twenty years ago, my nephew was finally old enough to go on a Marlin fishing trip with his Dad.  He got a brand new casting outfit for the occasion & practiced with it religiously prior to the outing.  The day arrived & quickly they were 30 miles off the California coast.  They spotted a Marlin sunning itself & my nephew ran to the front of the boat as he was making his cast.  Unfortunately, he tripped over a cleat and accidently threw the new combo overboard.

As my brother consoled his upset son, the other two fishermen (friends of my brother) fired their sardines at the marlin.  After about 5 minutes, one of them said "I think I have a fish, but it doesn't feel very big".  As he reels it in, there is no fish, just the sardine they were using as bait and a 2nd sardine with a hook in it wrapped around his line.  He grabs it, starts hand lining in the line attached to the 2nd sardine and sure enough, it was my nephews combo.  A million to one shot to snag it in water a couple of hundred feet deep.

Ive got a quantam baitcasting combo out in the lake that fell off my kayak last year. Take a much needed vacation to Florida and help a brother out.

Glad you got it back for Lake though.

My wife once caught a baitcasting combo at a local pond and gave it to me for Fathers day. Its what I had told her I wanted for fathers day !

Nah, I have more to sell actually. I still have plenty left though. I can't even win on scratchers tickets, that's my wife that wins on all that stuff.

Man, I thought I was a cool dad when I used my WP 130 to rescue my sons' prized mini hollow-body frog that he casted off.  You upped the difficulty big time!

Used Crankbaits frequently when I lived in Iowa. One thing I noticed when I moved to Kansas is , Crankbaits catch catfish and drum. I have only caught a few decent Bass on them.

My grandson and I were fishing the lake by the house and in a moment of excitement one of my favorite outfits jumped over the side of the boat.  Not sure which of us bumped it in but it was a moment of silence for sure.  Tried dragging a treble hook with a texas rig and caught a drum!!!  Sheesh.  About two weeks later a friend dives for the outfit and was just about to call it quiets when he went abut 30 yards out from where I dropped it and found it just dragging his hand along bottom.  Guess water was cloudy along the bottom out in about 25 ft.  Not sure how the outfit went out and upstream in the lake.  Guess the plastic grub I had on there was powerful

Same thing around here.  I have only caught 5 or 6 bass this year on crankbaits.
