BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted July 29, 2018 BassResource.com Administrator Posted July 29, 2018 Do you agree with Hank? 3 Quote
Super User NHBull Posted July 29, 2018 Super User Posted July 29, 2018 Yes, if there was only one option. 5 inch worm would be my 2nd choice. Trig, wacky, ned, shakey, Carolina, drop, ect Quote
greentrout Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Interesting...believe the spinnerbait is responsible for Hank's big wins...own a few of his Mann's Classic Hank Parker sb's... He's one of the greats but I'd have to go with the plastic worm...fish it shallow, in between and deep. Vegetation it thrives... good fishing... 1 Quote
govallis Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 Jig works all year long, but the best? Probably no. Senko seems more like the best for bass, all seasons. Quote
Super User WRB Posted July 30, 2018 Super User Posted July 30, 2018 Now you all are debating Hank Parker, accept his advice he is right. Tom Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 30, 2018 Super User Posted July 30, 2018 For me it would be a toss up between a Texas rig & a jig, both can be fished identically Quote

Todd2 Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 I'd put a worm ahead of the jig. Hard to fish a weightless jig, lol. 2 Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted July 30, 2018 Super User Posted July 30, 2018 Even Hank didn't agree with Hank I would go with a 5" Senko. Years ago when I started keeping track of all the different ways that I and others rigged the 5" Senko, I ended my logging at 78 different ways to rig it. Some were incorporating it with other baits but even if you took all of those out there's more versatility in that bait than any other that I have found. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted July 30, 2018 Super User Posted July 30, 2018 I already fish a jig at least 70% of the time, so fishing it 100% of the time is not so far fetched. Quote

thinkingredneck Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 I agree with his statement about a toolbox. I think in his hands a jig would be the bait. I can use a jig, but have more confidence with a worm. In my hands, the answer would be a plastic worm. For some it would be a spinnerbait. And I bet Ned would say Midwest Finesse. Quote

It's Hank Parker you are debating, I think he understood the question and answered it. Glenn could have blanked out Parkers answer leaving _______ to be filled in by the members and a long list of personal favorites would be the result. Tom Quote

Todd2 Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 I read a lot of bass articles. I can say that I've seen the worm, jig, and spinnerbait all be given the title of best lure by different pros and the #1 producer of bass and winner of tournaments. They all can't be right, lol. But I'm a Hank fan too and always have a jig tied on. However, given the versatility of the lowly worm, I give it the slight edge over a jig for me personally. Quote
Pat33 Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 If I could only have 2 baits in my boat. It would be a plastic worm and spinnerbait. Quote
Beetlebz Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Oi, that's a tough one. 3/8oz flippin jig with a Christie craw can do an awful lot. But I gotta go with the consensus, where I fish I'd go with a 1/4oz Texas rigged power worm Quote
