Looking to pick up a casting rod to use for jigs and texas rigs, and the Ikos is well within my budget and I've heard great things. But I've also heard great things about the Zolo which is a little bit more than what I wanted to pay, but if it's noticeably better (more sensitive, better construction, etc.), I'd be willing to stretch my budget a bit. Or if anyone else has other suggestions in that price range that are better than picking up an ALX, I'd love to hear it!

Thanks!

Wrb or Catt (or someone else) has mentioned the zolo is similar in sensitivity to a gl nrx.

But ikos offers options not available in zolo

That statement may be a tad far-fetched. The ALX Zolo rods are good rods (I have fished the ALX ZOLO Powerbolt and Deputy) but in my experience they are not as sensitive as a GLX. The GLX, Phenix K2, NRX, Megabass Destroyers, Legend Elite/Legend X, Conquest and Z Bones are the pinnacle of sensitivity for a reason and there prices reflect that.

Anyways, the ALX rods do have a pretty good warranty and QC looked good as well. Should be a competitive rod in the $200-$300 range

I’ve had both (deputy and promise?)and I was not impressed by either. They just weren’t sensitive to me.  I have been pleased with my Falcons or for a little less $ I like Hammer rods.

I have Zolos and Ikos. The main difference to me is weight, the zolo rods are overall a lighter rod. I love my Ikos Promise, I would say it is my favorite rod. The zolo is a bit more sensitive, but not by much. The build quality are the same for all of ALX rods. The last Ikos I bought had a glued up eye, contracted ALX and problem solved. I can assure you that you will not be disappointed in either rod. The Zolo may not be as sensitive as a $300-$400 rod (I wouldnt know), but it is more than sensitive enough for me.

I've had both.  The Zolo may have been a little more sensitive but to me it honestly wasn't enough to justify the price increase.  I did however like the actions of the Zolo rods better than the Ikos.

I also am in the market for a new jig and texas rig rod. And i had never heard of these rods, I was being pretty narrow minded, focusing on St Croix, G loomis, Shimano etc. . . But i will check these out. I work for a Johnny Morris owned corp (Tracker) so i usually end up at a bass pro but looks like cabelas has a few great selections i been missing out on! If anyone has any thoughts or sugs, on a casting rod in the 6.8 -7ft range around 120-250 price range please let me know.

KISTLER HELIUM 3 LIGHT MED HEAVY. Sign up for their email. When they go on sale, buy one. I have a GLomis nrx and fish more with my Kistler. Great rod for the money

I just recently picked up a ZOLO Deputy and I love the action. It throws light lures well, but handles a one ounce WP very well too, perfect taper for a versatile rod.
