Anybody else like the show ?

Its now one of the few shows I watch.

I try to strategize with them and wonder how I would do out there.

One thought I have is that, with the right water, I could survive mostly on fish.

As for the wild animals, I think wolves could potentially be an issue, or the grizzly bears. I would not be concerned much with black bears or mountain lions.

I wonder how long I could stay out there.

Some of those people almost look like they could just stay out there for good.

Mrs Mike and I watch it all the time and tape them all.

It's really interesting to an old city boy like me to see how they build thier shelters, find natural things to eat etc.

When it first came on I said to myself "I could do that" (I remember Mrs Mike looking over at me and rolled her eyes) but after a while I learned I would be a little out of my element.

But given time and 30 yrs younger I think I'd be alright!!?...Then again...

But I sure would like to try!

I love the show. I started watching it last season when they were in the Vancouver Islands. While I think being on the show would be interesting, I don't think I could make it much longer than a couple weeks haha.

I was shocked to hear that one of the contestants t his season lived weeks off of pine bark until he could no longer continue. I never knew it had any nutritional value. You learn something everyday.

I am watching this weeks episode now. While the importance of being a good hunter & gatherer can't be reiterated enough, the thing that sets the winner apart from the rest is a person that is confident, head strong, and can easily self entertain themselves. Not having a giant bear/mountain lion around your camp helps to haha. As I would wet my pants.

Last seasons winner, Alan, actually lives about an hour north from my town. He was a beast. Very intelligent in his approach of conserving energy and staying mentally intact.

Is Alan the one from Blairsville GA ?

I was thinking it was a couple years ago when he won.

At the start of that season I picked him to win and rooted for him .

Have watched this show with my son and family since it first came out several years ago.  We make it a family night and watch it all together and we laugh...shake out heads etc.  I like the one lady who did all the work on her place.  Sauna...fireplace the whole bit....but then just left!!!!  I too wouldn't mind giving it a shot but being type 2 it might be kind of rough.  Also like the one where the guy was really talking it up to friends and family and then saw the bear track and tapped out.....:)

He may have won 2 seasons ago, but yes. I wanted him to win as well. When the show first started I don't remember them being able to bring as much supplies as they do now.

Some of the decisions they make have me shaking my head, and I make comments like they can hear me lol.

The guy last night that couldnt catch any fish was one of them. He kept complaining about all the current. Im like " Man, take a walk until you find a bend in the creek and find some calmer water" !!.

I dont care for the guy that yells and curses at Mongolia because the weathers not perfect.

Another one  is always about to cry when he kills something to eat. Im thinking  "of all the things to cry about and hes worried about killing animals to eat " But that guy is actually pretty good at it so he's earning some respect...

Haha I was thinking the same thing. The guy that gets upset that he is hurting animals is not emotionally stable. There are only 5 people remaining so we will see who wins.
