CheepCheepAngler Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Hey guys, put cork sealant on the cork and it left a yellow spot. What can be done about this? thanks, ryan Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 U-40 is almost clear so not sure how this could happen. I've been using it since I can remember and never had that issue. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 26, 2018 Super User Posted July 26, 2018 It's either an imperfection or stain in the cork that the sealer brought out. As mentioned U40 is pretty much clear. 3 Quote
tander Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Never had spots when using it, got to be the cork. 1 Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted July 26, 2018 Super User Posted July 26, 2018 As said above, it must have been something on or in the cork. I'd hit the area with some 320 paper to remove the stain and recoat. 1 Quote
CheepCheepAngler Posted July 26, 2018 Author Posted July 26, 2018 Thanks gents, first time I have had an issue with this process. Of course it is my favorite new fly rod.... will get it repaired with that warranty, hopefully. Quote

Super User S Hovanec Posted August 3, 2018 Super User Posted August 3, 2018 Just lightly til the stain disappears. It shouldn't take more than a couple passes with light pressure. Quote
CheepCheepAngler Posted August 3, 2018 Author Posted August 3, 2018 Really appreciate the help! Quote

If you're not comfortable using the sandpaper because of how aggressive it is, you can try a Magic Eraser or a grey (fine) Scotch Brite pad. They won't take as much material off per pass as the sandpaper. 1 Quote
L a r r y Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 If you don't want to use sandpaper, how about MAGIC ERASERS? I use them to clean up my cork on any rod that I didn't previously use cork sealer and it cleans them up NICELY Quote
