Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 20, 2018 Global Moderator Posted November 20, 2018 Was a heck of a game. The Chief's defense was better than I expected them to be and Mahomes tried to do too much at the end. He had the time and weapons, just needed to do what they did the rest of the game instead of trying to win it in one play. As great as the rest of his stats were, 2 lost fumbles and 3 INTs isn't going to let your team win many games, and it still came down to the last drive. Got to clean up the penalties, but that's been a problem all year. I don't think this year is their year yet, but Mahomes potential has me really excited for the future. 2 Quote

If they play 10 times, I can't imagine it turning out anything different than 5-5. I think the high score & number of penalties had to do more with the defenses having to gamble than any particular shortcomings (hence the 3 defensive scores). If either team is playing against a different team and the score is 35 - 10, I think it is human nature to let your foot off the gas. If KC can keep home field, I think they will be in the Super Bowl and have at the minimum a 50% chance to win. 2 Quote

I can't see there being any way that it doesn't end up being them or the Saints in the Super Bowl for the NFC. That Peters interception hurt. The guy needs to grow up sure, but I never understood the hate for him here but everyone is okay with Tyreek? Peters plays with passion and loses his cool and speaks his mind. I'd rather have a guy playing with fire than someone just going through the motions. Donald is a force of nature, a one man wrecking crew. Considering Cam Irving was almost out of football a couple years ago, I can't be too upset how he did blocking him tonight. I feel like the Rams really need Talib back just like the Chiefs really need Berry back to help solidify their defenses. Both offenses can score with anyone. Did Gurley get hurt? He was strangely absent from the game plan I thought. Quote

I think KC's scheme was to focus on Gurley, so McVay chose to take what was given him. The Chiefs were in alot of man coverage, ready for the run and I think if the Rams had tried to force Gurley into it, they wouldn't have had as much success. One of McVay's strength's is his willingness to mold his offense into whatever it needs to be. It reminds me of what Belechick did about 10 years ago in a game against the Steelers. Pittsburgh had a great run defense, so the Patriots spent the entire game throwing, even though the strength of their offense (at that time) was their running game. I think they ran the ball about 5 or 6 times the entire game, even when they were leading by a couple touchdowns. It was just a refusal to play into another teams strengths. I think Andy Reid does the same thing. The problem for teams that play against the Saints, Rams or Chiefs is that these teams have the ability to run for 250 yards or throw it for 400 yards. If you overplay against one way, these 3 teams have the talent to play the other. On a different note, the strength of schedule for the Rams & Chiefs so far has been the same. Their opponents records so far are an identical 54-55 (ties excluded). The Saints have had an easier go, their opponents record so far is 48-51. Quote

Super User Darren. Posted November 20, 2018 Super User Posted November 20, 2018 I turned the MNF game off too early and went to bed. Assumed the Rams were about to pour it on...mistake. Mahomes hits the reset button in his brain after every stinkin' play! The kid can flat out ball. And the Bills gave him away to the Chiefs. (Tho I doubt he'd be playing like this if he were a Bill). Is too early, but if the Saint's keep going -> SB champs. 1 Quote
greentrout Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 As good as the Saints look right now the defense will still have to improve more in the secondary to win the whole thing...they are improving ...old school ... defense wins championships... Quote

I felt like both squads played pretty good defense considering the new rules and how high powered both offenses in the game were. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted November 21, 2018 Global Moderator Posted November 21, 2018 there were glimpses of defense but I wouldn’t say either team played “good defense” in that game as a whole. A couple of those takeaways were desperation heaves and the guys that intercepted them were just standing there alone. The game was fun to watch though Quote

Can K.C. go all the way? The kids good for sure, but overall the team doesn't have the defense to win the super bowl. I'll cheer them on, but I'm also a realist. The Saints on the other hand, have it all! Gonna be fun to see how it all pans out 1 1 Quote

I feel like someone else will hire him before next season as an assistant coach in some capacity. His head coaching days are over though. Whoever gets that job will have a tough one though. Aaron Rodgers basically dictates how the team is run, not the coach. Quote
