1 straight super bowl loss???

The Banter is often one of the most entertaining aspects of being a sports fan.

No different in this case, and you're right.

Guess New England fans will simply have to figure out a way to be satisfied with being 5-3 in Superbowls since 2001.

Oh the humanity

Los Angeles, hopefully . And if that doesn’t work then Kansas City. The playoffs really take the mystery out of the saints silly rallying cry

Kansas City's defense held up yesterday! Can they keep it up? We'll see.Mahomes is red hot now, but it takes a good defense to win. It will only get tougher from here.

congrats Saints on a gritty win. it took alot to knock my Eagles out of the playoffs but yall did it.

I still have 3 dogs in the hunt:  Patrick, Tom and Drew.  Hopefully one of them will pull it off.

Foles played like **** last week and we ended up winning.  Foles played like **** this week and we lost.  Defense did it's job and we had players dropping like flies all game.  Cox was in and out of the lineup and when he was out, you could tell because Brees was comfortable and picking us apart as he is known to do.  No excuses here we got beat in a very very winnable game.  I think just about anyone would say they would be ecstatic if they held her saints to 20 in a playoff game at home.  Offense was our downfall....

@flyfisher, I thought foles played pretty well and is probably about to make $15 million per season. If jefferey catches a perfect pass that hits him in the hands you could be posting about another magical playoff run. What hurt the eagles the worst from my couch perspective was leaving 13 wide open all. Night. Long.

Nah Foles played like garbage.  We shouldn't have needed a lot minute drive to win that game.  at the 2 minute warning we should have been in the victory formation.  He missed so many wide open receivers it was ridiculous.  He also got bailed out on a few more picks by ertz too.

Well if the eagles were wide open all night and the saints were wide open all night, then who the heck plays defense anymore??? I miss it.......... hahah. The teams that had great defenses this season are all on early vacation

eagles played decent defense but were very injury depleted in the secondary.  These were two of the worst pass defenses in the league really.  Difference is that the eagles have a great d line.  Rules have changed the way you can play defense in the secondary so it is harder and harder to compete on that side of the ball.

Yes the eagles have a great front. Cox is a monster. I like defensive low scoring games myself but I’m going to watch no matter what. I would rather see a great tackle than wide open catches over and over

Foles did play terrible. 2 scoring drives to start the game then poof...real foles shows himself. Really should have only been 1. I think the Saints DB are still trying to figure out how they lost Matthrews so bad on the ol' foles lob it up and pray ball. After those drives, it was INT, 6 straight punts, INT. Game was a lot closer than it seemed score wise. Felt like the Saints could move the ball, for the most part, at will. Huge time of possession difference. 9 Total possession (not including the last that sealed it) and 6 of their 9 were 7+ plays. Saints had the ball for literally almost the entire 3rd quarter on 1 single drive. Eagles front showed up but that's about all for them.

next weeks games might be better than the superbowl.

Saints had to work awfully hard to beat a backup QB, they'll have to do a lot better than that against the Rams next week.

With the Eagles out, the remaining four teams are eerily similar.  All four have offenses that can run up the score on average to worse defenses and defenses that are middle of the road, but can look good for short periods of time if their offense is controlling the game.  All four teams can win or lose in a shootout, so it may come down to the defensive performances to make the difference.

Ironically, even though all of these offenses are good, none operate in the same manner.

Two teams have Super Bowl winning veteran QB's, the other two have younger QB's coming into their own.  Both games on Sunday are rematches of shootouts earlier in the season.  The only ***** in the armor of any team is the Patriots record on the road (3-5), but that may be counterbalanced by their playoff experience edge.

I know many of us, myself included, believe the team we are rooting for will win, but any result over the next 3 games really shouldn't be much of a surprise.  It is easy to imagine any of these teams winning the Super Bowl.

Go Rams!!

A veteran backup QB that the entire nation was singing his praises a day ago...now he's just a backup!

As for the Rams, Y'all come on down ?

He was our backup here in KC for awhile, there's a reason he's a backup. He's a good one and probably get a starting job next year. The talking heads sing his praises to hype the game.

I think there was a lot of rust from sitting for 3 weeks from the Saints starters. It should be a good match up. The NFL has to be pumped.

Catt, the Saints came back and won it fair and square. I'm hoping to see Saints and Chiefs. That will be a good game

I disagree ?

The Eagles came out & gave everything the had, the Saints defense absorbed that & then proceeded to shut em down.

Offensively the Saints took on a stout defense & in spite of major mistakes put points on the board.

Offensively & defensively the Saints are well balanced in both run & pass.

He has always been just a backup.  The few times he started a season he couldn't stay healthy and perform at a high level.  He hasn't played well this season at all really, he just got hot in the playoffs last year.

Saints didn't shut anyone down, so just stop that foolishness.  Defensively the saints are trash against the pass and our backup QB couldn't exploit that weakness.  Losing Brooks early really impacted the run game as well as Douglas and then Cox was also in and out of the lineup which allowed brees to have time to throw.  Foles had a ton of wide open receivers he just flat out missed.

It was a well played game from both sides really and holding the saints to 2TD less than normal at home should be enough to win but our offense has been crappy for the past few weeks really and it showed.

How many points did the Eagles score in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th quarter?

That would be ZERO!

Make all the excuses  ya want!

That's a shutdown ?

THe eagles scored with 7 minutes (ish) left in the first quarter. They didnt sniff the endone for 3 1/2 quarters. Thats literally the definition of being shut down.
