Super User flyfisher Posted September 23, 2018 Super User Posted September 23, 2018 Wentz looked decent in his inaugural game after his injury. the defense continues to impress each week and the offense will get it together, hopefully, when a few of the key pieces come off of their injuries. Dallas is looking like trash right now and i doubt anyone picked Washington and the Bills to win today Quote

Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted September 24, 2018 Global Moderator Posted September 24, 2018 Uh oh @A-Jay! I shut the TV off at 10 last night and thought I'd wake up to the usual 'Lions blow another lead', but holy cow! The Pats seem to always start the season slow so I can't imagine you're too worried, BUT THIS WAS THE LIONS! ? While I'm not a Lions fan I do follow them and I was thinking they might not win a game or at best 2 wins. In now thinking we night see them play in February. ? Quote

New England fans have been so fortunate to see just a ridiculous run of wins & Championships. Can't go on forever and almost 20 years may be well past forever in Football years. I've been a life long Pats fan since the Boston Patriots days well before Robert Kraft bought the team. Those were some long and lean years as far as wins go. This years team reminds me of those days. A-Jay Quote
Super User Gundog Posted September 24, 2018 Super User Posted September 24, 2018 I think we are seeing a fundamental shift in the NFL. Teams that were horrible just a few years ago have finally found coaching leadership that works, players that gel as a team and management that knows how to run a NFL franchise. The Chiefs and Rams are good examples of this. They have been putting pieces together for a few years now and I think its going to be their year for a shot at the SB. On the other hand, teams that have been on top for decades are now seeing a change in fortunes due to coaching changes on the lower levels, aging stars and clashes at the management level. The Steelers and Pats seem to fit this pattern. Then again, its just week 3. Everything could change by the playoffs. Quote

I don't follow the Lions closely at all, so when I heard our local news say Gronk said he'd retire before being traded to the Lions, floored me! I didn't know it was in the talks, and I never thought New England would get rid of him. I know he's injury prone but two players come to mind when you think of New England....Tom Brady and Gronk. 1 Quote

The big difference is rule changes combined with better nutrition and training etc..has led the most important position, the QB, to be able to play a much longer effective career. The league shifts power when new QB come to the table. Right now there are a good amount of good to great QB that are young and teams are being built more wisely. I am curious to see what the walrus can do with Mahomes as he seems to be able to maximize the play of QBs no matter where and who they are. I'd like nothing more than the Eagles to beat the Chiefs in a Super Bowl Quote
Super User Gundog Posted October 2, 2018 Super User Posted October 2, 2018 After the KC/Den game last night I got to say Mahomes is an incredible QB. The lefthanded toss was unbelievable. It would be hard to say they aren't the best team in the NFL right now. The next 2 games for KC are Jacksonville and the Patriots. Both will be tests of their coaches ability to out plan the other team. Quote
OCdockskipper Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 Mark your calendars for Monday, November 19th, Chiefs at the Rams in front of a national audience. Currently the 2 best teams in the league, could be a battle of the undefeated. Odds are one of these 2 will be your 2019 Super Bowl Champs. Go Rams. 1 Quote

Super User Gundog Posted October 7, 2018 Super User Posted October 7, 2018 Roughing the passer penalties for sacking the QB are ruining this game. Penalizing teams for having a good defensive line is a joke. Soon they'll be playing flag football. Quote

Through 4 games, the Bears had the most sacks in the league with zero roughing the passer penalties. They aren’t being penalized for having a good defensive line. As far as the NFL is concerned, quarterbacks making $20 million a year need to be on the field playing to keep fans watching. Injuries and CTE are the biggest threats to the future of the game. Having the stars on IR isn’t good for the fans or the game. Quote

Injuries and CTE are the biggest threats to the future of the game. Having the stars on IR isn’t good for the fans or the game. But is it good for the game to have the outcome decided by penalties? And how can a player not land on a QB with his full body weight and how can a referee know that he did or didn't do that? They are asking too much of the defensive line to be able to control contact while taking down a QB and making referees decide something that is impossible to decide. There is no way to protect players in a contact sport from getting hurt. The QB could be running out of bounds and hurt his knee. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted October 8, 2018 Super User Posted October 8, 2018 Eagles had another bipolar game and were crushed by a roughing the passer cal that led to the vikings only offensive TD of the game. It boggles my mind the mental errors this team is making after being a well disciplined team last season. I am hoping that this is just everyone getting used to everyone else coming back form injuries etc but if we don't right the ship against the giants on thursday, our season is all but toast. Quote

Their loss was pretty bad this week too. Could be a real ugly game. Wentz is playing well though which is good to see after coming off his injury. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted October 8, 2018 BassResource.com Administrator Posted October 8, 2018 Two things to note with the NFL these days: 1. Anyone's team can win/lose on any given weekend. That's how the NFL designed it. Everyone is in parity now (kinda like NASCAR and its rules). The dynasty's are long over (kinda like NASCAR). 2. Hard hits and aggressive playing are being eliminated from a sport where that's part of it's core (kinda like NASCAR has done with it's rules). And where is NASCAR's fanbase now? Lesseee..... lesseee.... looking.... looking... ... ..... ........... Still looking........ I see a pattern, and where the NFL is headed. 2 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted October 9, 2018 Global Moderator Posted October 9, 2018 Yeah I know it's early, just like its early for everyone else... Just don't sleep on the Bears. If they stay healthy on defense and Trubisky keeps his head out of his a**...... Just sayin Mike 1 Quote
