Super User Dwight Hottle Posted July 26, 2018 Super User Posted July 26, 2018 I was in need of a replacement part made by Matagi to replace the balancing weigh part made by them. I googled Matagi & came up with a parts supplier that didn't have the part & charged a real premium for the out of stock part & a very hefty shipping charge. I continued to search for an alternate supplier & found VooDoo Rods. THey had the part I needed in stock & were less than half the price of the not to be mentioned supplier. Long story short I got the part very quickly with great communication from their end. It was securely packaged and included a sticker & a handwritten note thanking me for my purchase all for a $18.45 shipped price. I just wanted to publically state what a great way to conduct business by them for anyone needing a source for rod building parts. 3 Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted July 26, 2018 Super User Posted July 26, 2018 Thanks for the head's up Dwight. I have a build coming up which requires some Matagi parts. Nice to see an alternative supplier. 1 Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted July 26, 2018 Super User Posted July 26, 2018 I never messed with Matagi parts, but I threatened to once or twice. Their painted seats sure are nice. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted July 26, 2018 Super User Posted July 26, 2018 I will be using one of those fancy painted seats. A whole grip-seat-bling parts setup soon. Not for one of my rods. What I would really like to see is one of those seats after it's been on a real fisherman's rod for a couple of years. Quote
spoonplugger1 Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 A lot of the Matagi dealers are small outfits that order when they have enough customers to warrant the shipping and customs costs and than they spread out the costs between all the orders, a single order you pay the full freight. Most are great people when your in a niche market, you were probably getting cut a break and not realizing it. My experience is you get better than twice the time we got from soft touch reel seats before you start seeing any evidence of wear, if you've used a painted Mudhole seat, it's in the same ball park. My wife's GUSA rod is 10+ years old and still looks great, but she's about the easiest person on gear I've ever seen. Quote
five-bites Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 I’ve bought from Voodoo twice now and have been more than happy with the experience. I will keep on using them for sure. Quote
