Daiwa Tatula LT Spinning Reel

I'm considering purchasing a Daiwa Tatula LT spinning reel to pair with a 7'-6" M/L St Croix Avid rod.  Can anyone tell me if the spool on the Tatula is braid ready?  Anyone have one of these reels and want to share your opinion on it?

I have the tiny 1000 for trout fishing. Super smooth- don't recall if it had the rubber piece on the spool for braid. Pretty sure i tied on some mono  under the 6# fireline.

Felt kind of geary at first but now i really like it. Light weight- Does not feel as "solid" as the shimano Fk with the Zaion body but right up there with the ci4+. Looks cheap as it is pretty much all black. I am not one to be in style so fine with me.

I got the 3000D CXH on a 7'0 ML Kistler Helium 3.  It's an incredible reel.  Every bit as good as my Stradic CI4.  The model I have has a super deep spool and holds a ton of line.  I'm using it for drop shotting so I wanted 20lb braid to a fluoro leader.  Because it hold so much line, I filled the spool with a bunch of cheap mono backing.  It's been flawless.

 

Wait till Ebay offers another coupon.  You should be able to get one for around $125 to $140.

You need to use a backing with them. I have three of them, two 2000 and one 3000. I love them.

The bail has an awesome feel to it and they're super smooth. I use the 2000's with 8lb braid and I will tell you the drag is fantastic. I've caught  tons of hard fighting bass using a 6lb and 8lb leader on the braid without any problems.

I dig the Darth Vader look too.

Definitely. They are awesome reels but you do need some backing for braid. The Fuego LT, Tatula LT, and Ballistic LT are by far some of the best spinning reels on the market. Daiwa did a great job with them.

Since I don't buy shallow spool reels I always have a layer of backing when using braid, no matter the reel.  I know it's redundant with braid ready spools, but if anything it's the 1 and only leader I'm going tie that year.

You may want to consider a dawia bg in 1500 size found online between 65 and 80 ..

Yes. As I said you need to use a backing.
