Reel for Ducket ghost rod

I am thinking about getting a ducket ghost rod, the 7 ft medium heavy casting version, I would use for jigs, crankbaits, chatterbaits etc...) any one have any experience with the ghost rod? Would you recommend it? I also need a reel for it, any recommendations on reels for it??

I love the ghost series rods I’ve had one since 2014 I have a chronarc on mine but mine is a medium Fast 610 I use mine for soft plastic jerkbaits and senkos. I would pair a mh with a curado k and use if for everything except cranking you could even throw a frog on it theses rods are tuff!!

That.s the first time I have heard Ducket rods described as tough.  I have seen to many break under normal use over the years.  I hate the micro guides.  I would stay miles away from these rods, and go with something more durable.

If you are sold on the Duckett Ghost then buy it, they are good rods and are very popular. However, I wouldn't recommend Crankbaits on that specific Rod, it's a fast stick; although it will work great with the other techniques you mentioned. As for the reel, I own Abu, Shimano, Okuma, Daiwa, Cabelas and the number company. I actually like every reel I own, but for multiple techniques in the $100 dollar price point, I don't think you can do much better than an Abu Garcia Revo X 6.6 to 1 gearing. That reel does a lot of things very well and will allow you to crank, jig and worm.....and it performs well above its price point. If you are just going with a dedicated Jig/Worm setup then I recommend the Revo X 7.3 to 1 gearing.

Well I happened to have owned two one I sold and one I’ve had for years the rods are very sensitive and they are strong well worth the price! I hear a lot of hate can’t understand why I never had a problem with micro guides ever, these rods out perform my mojos that are way more subject to snapping but they have warranty which is a great for 5 years of peace of mind, and the mojos are not $100 rods, You can put any $100 rod up against a $100 duckett and I would pick the duckett every time. My opinion and my two cents.

I conquer theses rods I personally wouldn’t use them for cranking.

I signed up for this forum specifically because I just bought 2 Duckett Ghost rods because I bought a *** ***, and a Daiwa Type R used on *** and I went to my local Dicks and they had these rods on sale for $79 each. 

 

I put the *** on a 7’ med heavy because it’s a 5.3-1 ratio and I wanted another crankbait rod. This rod worked very well with a Berkeley Wild Thing 6.5 and 8.5. I thought it would be too heavy but the tip is fast and with 30lb Suffix 832 I could cast it a mile and felt every piece of grass and it wasn’t too strong for a crankbait rod. I even threw a KVD 1.5 and it was great. 

 

I pit put the Type R on a Ducket Ghost 7’3” med heavy as a worm rod and it also works perfect. Same Suffix 30lb 832 and even with a 1/8-3/16 weight and a Texas rugged 7” worm it throws further than I imagined and has plenty of power. 

 

Most of my rods are BPS Carbonlite 2s a d while these Duckett rods are a bit thicker and have tiny guides they’re the best rods I have ever bought for $79!
