OkieBoy17 Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 I'm looking to buy a rod for chatterbaits and I'm hearing good things from the shimano zodias 7'2 mh glass and the shimano expride 7'2 mh glass my question is, is there any difference in the power and action of these rods they both have the same lure rating and same specs but I've heard more good things from the expride but if the zodias has the same feel and action I much rather buy a 190 dollar rod compared to a 300 dollar rod. Due to the fact a chatter bait or any type of moving bait does not need a significant amount of sensitivity Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted July 19, 2018 Super User Posted July 19, 2018 If it’s just for bladed jigs then I think the Zodias would be just fine. I picked up a new 7’2 mh (non glass) expride tonight for $202 from Simmons sporting goods in AL. 1 Quote
KP Duty Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 I'd probably go with the expride a just for its cork handle and good looks ? Quote
Preytorien Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 I honestly think it depends on your budget. I've used both and 100% can't tell the difference other than the handle. If you have the extra $$$ go with the Expride, if you want essentially an almost identical rod at half-ish the price, go with the Zodias. I started using Zodias a while back and have almost completely converted. I'm in love with them. Quote

Bladed jigs and moving style baits would be the use of this rod like 4inch paddel tail swimbaits and spinnerbaits and etc.. 1 hour ago, Preytorien said: I honestly think it depends on your budget. Because I was reading the description of the expride 7'mh glass and it said it's meant for moving style baits through cover and grass. And makes a excellent chatterbait rod. So if the zodias has the same power and action I would rather save the extra 100 since moving baits don't really need that expensive of a rod. Quote
bhoff Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 Definitely budget dependent. Do you need a $300 rod for fishing moving baits? Probably not. Do you need a $190 rod even to begin with? Probably not. Is the $300 rod going to feel better and more refined in the hands vs. the $190 rod? Yes. Quote
