Just looking for some opinions. The Rad rat look way more realistic, but I've heard mixed reviews about durability. Note that loosing a tail is common and easy to fix so I don't consider that a durability factor.

So,

Which is better and why?

Spro rat Vs Savage Gear Rad Rat

Thanks!

I have no experience with the Savage Gear rat but I do have a couple of the Spro's and love them...very good producers!

I have both in all their sizes, they´re both good but i like the Spro´s better! The Savage gear has a more realistic swimming action but i have at least twice more strikes on the Spro´s, i believe that is due to the sound it makes when swimming (like a "clack, clack, clack") while the SG Rat doesn´t make such a comotion.

Both will lose the ocasional tail (and feets in the SG) but they´re pretty sturdy, never had any problema with them.

Nice. I actually have both also but haven't thrown the spro. Only tried the SG once. Between the 1oz SG and the ½ Oz spro, which would you choose?

I've had a decent amount of luck with the Spro size 30 rat (1/2oz.) so that get's my vote!

If you're going for pure realism the SG Rad is probably a better option but IMO the spro is more versatile. It can be retrieved as a straight wake or walked in place using the hard plastic body to create a knocking noise. The Savage Gear Rad doesn't really offer much beyond either deadsticking it or a straight retrieve.

Actualy, i prefer the 40 size spro to the little 30 one so that would be my choice. Just as a curiosity when it come to colors the ones with wich i had more sucess are the more "bizarre" ones, Morning Dawn and Nasty Shad, i guess bass don´t like hippie rats...:smile7:

I'll echo what most have already stated, the spro is more versatile and the rad is the most realistic. The SG has a more difficult hook up ratio imo. The Spro can be straight retrieved as a wake and subsurface, and walked like a dog. I feel like it's more of a knocking sound then clacking. I've had smallies and tons of northerns on my 30 morning dawn. My brothers all went out after I slayed a ton of pike one day and they bought each colour and size. The Rago Rat is supposed to be the bee's knees same goes for the smallest version of the MS slammer.

I have a Rago Generic rat on the way and a gray mini Slammer with pink tail that is a hell of a rat imitation.
