CrankFate Posted July 16, 2018 Posted July 16, 2018 Over 25lbs, closer to 35 probably. Those carp are heavy. That looks over 50” Quote
Fishingmickey Posted July 16, 2018 Posted July 16, 2018 That's as them Pro's like to say a "Bigg'Un". It looks to be 55-60" and I would guess minimum 45-50 lbs. high end maybe 70. Bet that took you a few minutes to get him/her in. Nice catch. FM Quote
Super User JustJames Posted July 16, 2018 Super User Posted July 16, 2018 He said it bottoms his rapala scale at 50lbs so 60lbs maybe, that a huge fatty carp BTW. I bet you wanna fish for carp now, ehh? My Senko carp 23lbs look like a baby compare to your. This one was caught on Senko GP chartreuse tail on Medium rod, Calcutta 50, #4 izorline. It took me at at least 5 min to bring him in. 3 Quote
Arcs&sparks Posted July 16, 2018 Posted July 16, 2018 Oh my word, that is Huuuuge! I’ve never heard of a 25lb fish bottoming out a 50lb scale, one might think it was over 50lb?? ^to above comments* 1 Quote

I was being overly conservative. But you agree? It looks over 50” right? Forget it, I didn’t see the part about bottomed out a 50lb scale. It would have to be 60+ and probably over 55” Quote

Last year I caught a big grass carp that was over 40 inches and it looks small compared to one the OP posted. This is a internet forum and internet fishermen seem to give low estimates on fish weight (even if someone post a picture of a fish that has already been weighed). 1 Quote
CroakHunter Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 This is a 72lb Carp. The guy is 6'4 220. I'd say yours is in the 60lb range easy. 3 Quote

Yes. And then there’s the idiots that don’t actually read the whole post before commenting. ........................like me. 1 Quote

Nice carp, did you catch it bowfishing? Always wanted to try bowfishing since it similar to spearfishing which is my favorite form of fishing. Quote

Arcs&sparks Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 Lol there’s a bit of skim reading going on in this thread.. I’ve been guilty of that too.. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 17, 2018 Global Moderator Posted July 17, 2018 I had the same issue with this one, 50lb scale wouldn't even get it off the ground before it was bottomed out. Mine T-Boned a bone colored 168 Swaver. I was guessing 60-65, I'd say yours is probably in the same neighborhood. 2 Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted July 17, 2018 Super User Posted July 17, 2018 You caught it on a senko ? Never heard of that before. I caught one that was 23 pounds and it was just under 3 feet long. For a minute there I was wondering if he was going to spool a BIG saltwater spinning combo I have. I vote your fish for "carp of the year "? Quote
Moto Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 If I fish an ordinary Senko in a lake that contains both bass and carp, what are the chances I would catch a carp? Quote

Not often since carp rarely strike a senko. Most people fish with bread balls, corn, or ficus berries when they are targeting carp. Quote
Super User JustJames Posted July 18, 2018 Super User Posted July 18, 2018 @MottelI think there is chance but rarely happen. I think carp hit my Senko becuz he thought it is a piece of corn and he was busy chasing girl. If you zoom my picture you would see my Senko and the yellow tail look like a piece of corn. This was mouth hook not snag BTW. Another one here I'm not sure if I snagged him or hook him. The hook was at the out side lip, but I felt the hit before I set hook. Jerkbait is the most I caught/snagged carp on total of 3, this one and 2 snag on dorsel fin. 1 Quote

I know that corn is ideal but as of now I’m looking for alternatives Quote
