I'm not thinking about getting one, but  I read a few articles this morning before work, and a couple of the them mentioned HydroWaves.  One article went as far to say a HydroWave is necessary to do well consistently  in tournaments.  What are your thoughts on the HydroWave, do you think they really make that much of a difference?  I don't know anyone personally who uses one so I really have no idea as to their effectiveness.

This is a device the company is using to separate you from your money. I agree with the two posts above.

I saw a product recently that you put your lures in before you go fishing and it puts some kind of magical electric charge on the lures that attracts fish.... I thought of the HydroWave.

A bunch of the professional anglers use them to they must be effective. So much so that they proudly wear the name on their jersey's and on their boats. Heck they believe in them so much they talk about them all the time in articles and TV shows!

Seriously though there are so many accessories and lures that are "game changers", "must haves", and "I've won more money with this one lure" on the market today.

The life of a professional bass angler is not that glorious and tournament wise only a tiny percentage actually make a living doing it. The rest make their living sell product. A guy wrote the other day about his experience marshalling for Fletcher Shryock a few weeks back. Fletcher told him there's not that much money in tournament fishing. Merchandising is where the money is, which could explain why you see Fletcher with these bright colors. Same with Skeet and Swindle. Ike he's loud. It's all marketing and selling themselves which sells merchandise.

I kinda trailed away from the Hydrowave a tad, but hopefully you get the point.

I get your point.

I enjoy watching the pros on TV and that wouldn't be possible without all the money companies put into the sport.  I think it's helpful that the pros put the names of their sponsors on their shirts.  That makes it easy for me when they recommend a product.  I just look at their shirt and if I see the manufacturer of the product,  I ignore the recommendation.  I don't think I have ever heard a recommendation for the HydroWave by someone that didn't have TH Marine on their shirt.

Don't get me wrong, I'm just like everyone else. I got into Abu Garcia because Ike switched over to them and I happened to come across the Black and Pro Max reels and I like using them and they're well within my budget. I have a lot of Strike King lures, if KVD throws them there good for me. I just started throwing the Strike King bladed jig and I for the first time I bough a couple packages of the Rage bugs because @A-Jay was using them in one of his videos. Good enough for me. Do I follow they hype and think these are "game changers"? No but something I get turned on to and give it a shot.

The Hydrowave and Livingston lures that make noise who knows if they make a difference. I guess if it gives you confidence then go for it. Confidence has been discussed on here a ton, so if it gives someone confidence in their fishing then I guess you could say in a way it worked.

This is why I don't buy anything just because some pro is pushing it. Best example is the dancing eel that was out a while back. It didn't catch fish 30 years ago the first time it came out and it still doesn't catch fish.

I was in KVD's boat and asked him about it...He didn't give me a sales pitch, he just turned it on and showed me.  He didn't have it on because he said it didn't really apply to how he was currently fishing, but he turned it on and within minutes a school of baitfish had appeared and was circling around and following the boat.

He explained that in shallow grassy water (what he was in at the time) it's not as valuable.  It's true strength is in a more traditional shad lake (like a typical reservoir).  It can get the shad schools moving around which gets the bass moving around.

I don't own one, but based on that quick demo and explanation I can see it's merits.  I might add one in the future.  Most pro boats have one installed, including lot's of guys that don't promote them...That tells me something too.

I know two guys who installed them on their boat. both said the same thing. wasted 400.00. I can think of better things to add for that money.

I am careful to not discount a lure just because a pro is sponsored by them.  There are quite a few sponsored by Yamamoto does that mean Senko's don't catch fish?  I evaluate every product the same and with a little research it's not hard to form my own independent opinion.
