This summer has been better than normal for me when it comes to bass fishing. It's been raining a lot lately where I fish in South Florida and cloudy, rainy days tend to be cooler than sunny, rainless days.

I would be night fishing if I lived where you are now. +100 degrees with a high heat index is no fun for me unless I am diving.

Florida gets cool breezes from both the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico which helps keep the temperature lower than many similar areas. I rather have hot, humid, rainy weather than live somewhere with higher heat, dry, very little rain, water shortages, and huge forest fires caused by drought.

I know you guys have your problems as well with the toxic algae situation and Lake Okeechobee run off that the media seems to be having a field day with. California isn’t as bad as the media portrays it the news has a way of overdramatizing things. Seems like bad news is good news to television audiences now a days. It is hot and dry I give you the water situation seems to be ok for now but only time will tell next year if there is very little snow pack like this year then we’ll we need to start worrying again.

I live in South East Florida so that red tide is not affecting my fishing. In fact I had another awesome weekend of fishing and expect the fishing to get better as we get closer to the end of the year. Not the same can be said for South West Florida they are having a hard time with the red tide. Red tide is caused by a organism in the plant family and all that fertilizer rich water being pumped out from Lake Okeechobee is not helping the environment in that part of the state. Lots of people have moved to South West Florida from other states and many of these people are also not helping the environment by using lots of fertilizer for their gardens which eventually finds its way to the ocean.California is having a hard now with many fires caused by drought and I rather deal with some heat, humidity, rain,a occasional hurricane or 2 than deal with extreme heat, low humidity, drought conditions, and earthquakes.

I don't know, it's Summer in the South. It's hot, humid, and at times it's a little uncomfortable. BUT, it's Summer in the South and it's the way it's supposed to be, so for me it's just right. :)

I normally fish barefoot during the summer. My deck carpet is even too hot not to wear sandals and I have tiger stripe tan lines on my feet. It's not the first summer like this, but you gotta have something to complain about.
