I need help deciding on which reel to purchase, it will mainly be used for single hook baits (texas rig, jig, weighted swimbait)

I have no input on either reel, but I'm sure either will be great. Just wanted to say welcome from another hoosier.

Without looking them up I'm sure the Antare is heavier in weight. Maybe your rod selection should determine which reel to get. The antare would help balance a longer rod or tip heavy rod than the Steez.

I have the Steez SV TW, Steez A, 2018 Antares DC MD and had the 2016 Antares DC.

The Antares are great reels! Heavier and also shine more for heavier lures, starting at 1/2oz. In terms of smoothness, they are head to head. The Steez SV TW is a germ if you are looking for a lighter reel for lures up to 3/4oz. The Steez A is the best bang for the buck. If you are not throwing light lures (anything under 3/8oz) the Steez A is a great reel!.

Let me know if you have more specific questions and I am more than happy to answer.

Cheers!

I think the steez is amazing for bottom contact and what i have on my jig rod.  I have not honestly used the high end shimano's so i cant say which is better so i will not vote.

I have a Steez SV TWS and a Antares 70A.  Both are fantastic but for casting distance the Antares, hands down, is the best.   On the other hand, the Steez is more practical.   To put it in other terms, if I was choosing one reel for tournament fishing, the Steez wins but for fishing fun and pleasure, the Antares would be my choice.

This is like comparing Ferrari to Lamborghini or Rolls Royce to Bentley if you ask me. I just got my first Steez reel (a Steez SV). It's super light. Probably 2/3 the weight of the almost any current Shimano reel besides the Aldebaran MGL 50. I expect it to not win any distance casting competitions, but would get my pick as I would expect it to be better for control where the Antares should win for casting distance.

The Steez SV pairs well with my Steez AGS Bottom Contact rod as well since that is not tip heavy, but the Antares might pair better with a less balanced rod (pretty much anything lighter) at the end of the day as well.
