These guys must have misplaced their calendars because they aren't supposed to show up like they did until October! I had quite the time playing this guy on my swimbait stick with a Cardiff 400. I had never caught a big one before, I was very impressed by the power this fish had

Jeez it's almost as big as you! Nice catch! Seems like you're living the dream right now traveling the country bass fishing and catching different species in your neck of the woods. Enjoy it! ?

Nice ! They are some strong fish for sure.

I've been around them all my life and never got one that big. Did you catch it on a swimbait?

And on a pier? Man, that makes it even more difficult.

Awesome catch.

Reds are on my “bucket list.”

Isn’t October/November a good time to go on Gulf Coast? I’d love to chase them when the weather is comfortable.

Not on a swimbait, just a croaker head haha

A croaker head ?  Still amazing. We catch them mostly on finger mullet , mud minnows, and big dead shrimp. We don't use lures much for them because the bait fishing is so good. In N. Florida they can be caught surf fishing in the fall esp.

Everyone down there was using cut bait, and that is pretty standard for drum fishing in the outer banks. I just used whatever baitfish I could catch and did my best to keep it fresh.

Yeah, the bulls fight light freight trains!  Really fun on lighter tackle too if you can get away with it.

Though I didn't get into any during my trip, there were some summer bulls hanging around HHI as well.
