How to unspool line on a spinning reel back to an empty spool?

I recently needed to spool a spinning reel I have with flurocarbon line and accidentally got the line direction wrong. I've got a bunch of line twists so I was hoping to unspool the flurocarbon back onto its empty spool, then start again. 

 

I googled around, but didn't find anything satisfactory. Does anyone have any good suggestions, tips or tricks for putting the line on my reel back onto the original empty spool? I am not even sure which direction it should go on. Thanks!

You would be better off just stripping 75 yards off and reeling it back in while using line conditioner and holding the line between your finger below the first guide and above the reel to remove twist. May take a few time to get them all out. What size line? Fluoro and spinning reels usually don't play nice together.

You will need a machine screw small enough in diameter to fit your drill chuck and long enough to accommodate two nuts and your spool. Place one nut on the screw, then your spool, then the last nut and hand tighten. Secure this in your drill Chuck and you are good to go. Be careful not to go too fast or you will pull the reel towards you really fast. You will see the direction you need to start it on the spool once you pull a few feet off of the reel. 

 

I agree with CroakHunter that the two do not play together well. You may want to condsider using the flouro as leader material.

Thanks for the input guys, I guess putting all fluro on a spinning reel wasn't such a good idea. My line is the berkeley vanish 12 lb line.

I had Vanish and the line kept breaking. Terrible line. I'd get rid of it. I got rid of mine and now just use braid with Seaguar for the leader.

Since I use a fair amount of backing, I would just walk the line off my spool through my yard and then either reverse it or re-spool.  As a matter of fact, no matter which way I spool the line, I always strip it off in my yard or down the street so that I can be sure there are no twists.  That's the only way I've ever been able to totally eliminate it.

Not a big spinning reel angler, but 12lb flouro sound pretty heavy to me on a spinning reel.  I am old school anyway and never use anything but 8lb mono on my spinning reels.  When I respool I do exactly what Toxic does just to be sure.  It only takes a few minutes for peace of mind.

Don't strip it and load to another spool, you won't untwist it by repeating the process...    just troll it out (without a lure on it) and let it untwist a few minutes and reel it in.  You can walk the bank if not in a boat, does the same thing, a little more 'manually'  lol 

 

Repeat the process anytime you get a bunch of twist... you'll save a lot of money by doing this. (the line is fine, it's just twisted)  Also if in a boat, you can do it in about 2 minutes... mid day when needed and not have to respool on the water.
