Always fish a weedless swimbaits. Lake has a lot of stuff in it. Only type of open water shallow swimbait  fishing is prespawn shell bed bite. So 4th of July sale bought some 4" Top Shelf line throughs, treble hook under belly one point in bait. Will these come through anything or will they only work in completely open water? If so at 12 bucks a pc maybe I will exchange for something else, thanks.

Anything with a hook exposed will never come through "anything". I fish some line throughs and I can guide them through certain stuff, but anything remotely thick will just come up clumped on the bait.

I have good luck with the huddleston 68 special weedless. That thing will come through anything.

On the line throughs, I fish them over the top of weeds, or about a foot off the bottom if it not weedy.

They'll catch on weeds and wood but they're great around sparse grass and wood.

Do NOT fish a line through in weedy ponds/lakes unless you want to pull up a couple pounds of vegetation!
