BigBassCatcher Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 I was walking around Bass Pro the other day and these caught my eye because the Super Shad had 4 willow blades in the 3/8 oz size. Has anyone ever tried them out? Would they perform better than other spinnerbaits because they have more flash to them? I was skeptical of buying it because I've never seen a 4 bladed spinnerbait like this, I thought it was a gimmick. In theory though it should create more reaction strikes right? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 9, 2018 Super User Posted July 9, 2018 It's a pretty flashy bait. They work and get bit. I definitely use a trailer hook on them, as often the fish are crashing the blades, not the skirt. 1 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted July 9, 2018 Super User Posted July 9, 2018 By far my most productive spinnerbait is an old Strike King one with 4 willow blades just like this. I don’t believe SK still makes their 4 bladed spinnerbait, but it’s good to know 4 bladers are still on the market. Quote
BigBassCatcher Posted July 9, 2018 Author Posted July 9, 2018 Thanks for the insight guys. How would you rate them against other the current double blade spinnerbaits such as the KVD Strike king, Terminator, or War Eagle? Are they less durable, get hung up more etc.? I'm honestly probably going to pick one up because this is truly the first time I have seen a 4 bladed spinnerbait and I'm intrigued. Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 I have a couple of these. Never got bit on either but they look really cool in the water. Quote

The KVDs were expensive, and didn't last a day. War Eagles, Stanleys, Boo-Yah, and even the Strike King Premier series from DSG all have a place in my tackle box. The VERY best at goiung through weeds is Siebert's Comet. Quote

I tried looking it up but couldn't find it. This really interests me because I need a spinnerbait which can get through weeds better. Thanks. 1 Quote

Haven't snapped a titanium or steel one and have caught some decent northerns on them too. They are my favorite spinnerbaits. I will look into the Sieberts Comet though, good to know it's slices through the weeds. Quote

It was a known issue back when Rapala acquired them. Who knows now, I just don't trust them anymore. 11 hours ago, tcbass said: I will look into the Sieberts Comet though, good to know it's slices through the weeds. Out of the package, you need to put a slight bend where the wire comes out of the weighted head, like 20°. After that, they're good to go. Quote
MNGeorge Posted July 11, 2018 Posted July 11, 2018 Couldn't find a comet on Siebert's website... Quote

Brad in Texas Posted July 11, 2018 Posted July 11, 2018 This one, sort of the "Alabama Rig" as spinnerbaits go. With that many blades, not only the vibration but the appearance of something chasing just behind and under a little school of bait fish. One other? Take a look at the new ZMan spinnerbait, SlingBladeZ, being introduced at ICAST 2018 I think. No, not a 4 blade configuration . . . but it just looks so well made with some interesting design features. Brad New Spinnerbait Quote

On the right orbital path at any rate! :P 1 Quote

Brad New Spinnerbait I'm interested to see how that Z man spinnerbait performs in the water. It's got a lot of cool high end features it seems by the video, so I'm assuming it will be at a pretty high price point. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 12, 2018 Global Moderator Posted July 12, 2018 They're great right when the shad fry and bass fry are hatching and bass are chasing all those tiny baitfish everywhere. Quote

Seems they were listed at $7.99, so not cheap. But, like all tackle and gear, if something lasts 3 or 4X as long, that has to be taken into consideration as regards the true price of owing it. I'm like you and want to see it on the water a bit more. Brad Quote
