Howdy folks,

Been lurking around here and looks like you guys have a top-notch operation going...I Really enjoy what ya'll discuss!

I have a quick question, do any of you know where to find those weighted slip on rod butt attachments? The only one I've seen is yellow...  I've seen the General (Nixon) use them on his spinning rods to help alleviate elbow pain.  I've looked and can't seem to come across anything.  Any thoughts or suggestions?

I used a 1" rubber stool cap with 4 quarters attached to the butt end of my rod. It helped to balance it out and was a cheap fix.

Thanks George, I may try that.  Did you glue it, or is a really snug fit? like tapping with a hammer?

Nope, it was snug. Just pressed on. Your rod butt may be a different size, but those rubber caps are pretty flexible and stretch easily. And it helps that the caps come in various sizes if needed. The 1" fits most of my rods.

Welcome aboard!

I have a couple of the weighted systems @Bass Turd links to above.

They work well. Bought them before I learned of the 1" furniture leg

caps. Don't currently have them on any rods as they don't fit in my

rod holders on my kayak crate....among other reasons.

@Darren. Thank you for mentioning the issue with not fitting in rod holders. I used this exact item years and years ago and forgot about that aspect of it.

The one solution I can think of, at least for DIYers like myself,

is to go up a size PVC for the holders.

I've been thinking about these lately, so this thread prompted

me to dig one out and push fit it onto my Legend Tourney rod

with a single weight. Makes it better for tip-lightness, but over

all weight, obviously, increases by a few ounces.

Thanks for the help guys!
