Pedalboard is below... Boy, that is a sexy set up right there! Sure makes me want to go out and blow some cash on some pretty pedals. I am usually just running a tube screamer through my Mesa Boogie. Need that gain for metal! lol I do have a 1970 Twin Reverb that I found for a steal on craigslist. I re-potted it and I love the way it sounds, but it's sitting at my brothers house. It's great for that bluesy type stuff. Or some John Mayer. Tons of clean headroom. One of my favorite amps I ever owned was actually an old Randall Solid State. Was the same one DimeBag Darrel from Pantera used on most of their earlier records. Randall RG100ES, I regret ever selling that. And I regret selling my Fender Strat, but fishing took priority over music a while back for me lol. On 7/3/2018 at 12:48 PM, J Francho said: Nah, drums: Hey! Yea, guitar pedals are the guitarists version of crankbaits. Too many of them sitting around in boxes not getting used. Those old Randall solid state amps were brutally loud. Right up Dimebag's ally. Great player who had a lot more to give when he was killed. 1 Quote

So, right now, I have them up a bit, and slightly canted toward me. Lowering them was more about the live presentation. Drums for that band were out front, with the other two on either side. While I'm still the band leader in my new four piece, we're primarily featuring our singer (my GF) Michelle. The drums are Pearl Masterworks, built around the prototype Masters series bass drum used for display at NAMM when they came out with this finish, which is lacquer, and not a wrap. The full kit is 8, 10, 12, 13, 15, 16, 20. The snare is a Gretsch USA 5-ply maple with Dunnett hardware. Cymbals are Dream Bliss and Vintage Bliss. I have Ks, Byzance, and a few other vintage Zildjians, but these Dreams are where it's at for me. Here's the kit I'm useing now in it's current configuration. Yeah I know it looks backwards, lol. Think of it as a 4-pc. Big 15" rack, 16" floor, and a set of bongos for accent up top. 1 Quote

My pride and joy kit is a 70's Ludwig clear Vistalites. My band kit is a middle of the road PDP concept maple kit. I am running some Dream's too for crash's and splashes. Ride is a really old heavy Zildjian. 22" I believe. With some NewBeat hats from the 80s. How do you like the speed cobras? I'd guess pretty good by how worn they are. I have been rather undecided on pedals for the past 3 years. Use to run DW5000'S then didn't like those. Switched to some direct drive PDP's and they feel better, but are obviously not made as well. I think some cobras would be smack where I wanna be. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 20, 2018 Super User Posted August 20, 2018 I'd kill for a octa plus VistaLites! I love the SpeedCobras. If long boards aren't your thing, then the IronCobras are the way to go. It does take some getting used to, coming from DW 9000. They're lighter, and at first it feels like you can't hot them hard enough, but use your ears, they're plenty powerful, and the main thing is you are in control. You're not flinging a heavy beater at the drum. You're playing it. BTW, I just cleaned those pedals! I wear Chaco sandels when I play, so that's probably what's on them. Soles are black. I a pair of 13" New Beats I got as a teenager so i could get that "datt-pst-pst" Niel thing going, lol. Going from tight 13s to big sloshy 15s was a major adjustment. Here's the full kit when I was with my prog band, The Concussed: So L-R: 10" Popcorn snare, 13, 10, 12, 8, 15, 16. Cymbals: 12" splash over 12" china trash hats, 10" splash, 17", 16", 14" crashes, 20" ride, 16" china, 10" splashe for x-hat. Quote

Her entire family plays at least one or two instruments. The one in the middle is a Gretsch Chet Atkins Tennessean from the 60s, she’s been offered huge $$ for it, but it came from her dad so it’s not going anywhere. Holy moly!!! I wouldn't sell that either!!! Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted September 6, 2018 Super User Posted September 6, 2018 I have played since I was 7... Here's my collection. 1981 Les Paul Custom, stock with the Tim Shaw pickups, probably Gibson's most tonally accurate 50s PAF replicas. 2010 Fender American Standard strat with Lollar Blackface pickups (flat pole!)) 1976 Guild F-50 acoustic. Very unique sounding guitar, clean short sustain. One of the best sounding acoustics I've ever played. Same shape and depth neck as the Les Paul as well. 1968 Fender Super Reverb. It's a silverface, but one of the earlier ones before they altered the circuit, so basically a blackface at a silverface price. Not pictured. Later 80s Marshall Studio 15, 1x12" practice amp. The Celestion V30 was actually designed in conjunction with Marshall for this amp. Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret -- works nice with the Super Reverb to give it a Marshall-esque tone. The mids in the alnico speakers give it a real unique sound. Hughes & Kettner Tube Factor -- Jimmy Herring uses one of these with his modified Super Reverb, it maintains the tone of the amp. Wampler dB+ boost and optional buffer pedal Wampler Ego compressor Catalinbread Belle Epoch delay pedal, replicates the echoplex sound Keeley Java Boost - used this when I had a Voc AC30 and '69 Marshall Major. Chandler Tube Driver - bought this with the Vox AC30, doesn't work well with the Super Reverb so I'm probably going to sell it. 1 Quote

Guitar is way beyond me As a former French Horn player, I can tell you that it isn't simple! I've been playing guitar for almost 60 years. Mostly acoustic for the last 25 yrs. or so. The herd includes a Gibson Hummingbird, Taylor 355 12-string, Martin 000-1, Rainsong A-WS1000 (all carbon fiber), Larrivee Parlor, and a couple of plywood cheapies for the grandkids to mess with. I still have a couple of electrics, but I never play them anymore. Tom Quote

guitarkid Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Honestly haven't played in a while and I was pretty terrible when I did play. Quote
