HeyCoach Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 Well, you could use the string method of removal or you can push that right on through, cut it off behind the barb, and back it out. Quote
Arcs&sparks Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 ...knocks on wood... I suppose if you’re going to take it in the finger, it’s better on the knuckle than under the nail ☹️ What method did you use to get it out? 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 28, 2018 Global Moderator Posted June 28, 2018 Lots of nerves and tendons in the fingers, especially near a joint like where you got stuck. The line trick might work, but pushing it through is a big risk of causing permanent damage. Quote
Super User islandbass Posted June 28, 2018 Super User Posted June 28, 2018 Yikes! How did you get it out eventually? The string method does work. Quote
reb67 Posted June 28, 2018 Author Posted June 28, 2018 Actually I made a tool 2 years ago posted a picture on here of it. it's 2 key rings with 80 lb braid on it may just for these situations in case you're fishing alone and you don't have somebody with you to help you with the string trick. I've used it three times now but this is the first time I had to use it on myself and it worked great. Quote
reb67 Posted June 28, 2018 Author Posted June 28, 2018 If you fish alone you need to make one these. 3 Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 20 + years of fishing and I'm still patiently waiting on my turn. Not looking forward to it though. 1 Quote
Super User Spankey Posted June 28, 2018 Super User Posted June 28, 2018 Oh man! Looks very familiar. Neosporine and a bandaide. Good luck. Hope your finger feels better. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted June 28, 2018 Super User Posted June 28, 2018 I went decades without hooking myself , then did it three years straight . All on crankbaits . One was like you , when a lure come flying back . One was from trying to unhook a fish . The other , there was hook sticking out of a closed tackle box and I reached in the satchel to grab it . Quote
ohboyitsrobby Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 I've only been hooked once. I was 10 and got a rebel wee craw right in the shoulder. 2 hooks. Momma was not a braid trick or push it through person. So off to the clinic we went. And our camping trip was officially over ? I did have a buddy do this last year though yuck 1 1 Quote
