Sufix 832 , powerpro , And spiderwire ?

I have a question. Which line is better I usually fish spiderwire braid I been using it since I was 18 yrs old an I’m 29 now I loved stealth braid but I recent went to spiderwire smooth braid loved it until I had unexpected break off . So I asked my friends and they said go to powerpro and sufix832 lines . A lot say that spiderwire isn’t a professional braid but I love this stuff so what your ideas on these braid ?

Despise Spiderwire. 832 and power pro are some of the best. I really like kastking and daiwa j-braid x-4 also. But of the 3 you listed power pro would be my choice.

I've used original PP for years without problems. Just spooled up my surf rig and my new spinning combo with 832, haven't fished either yet. Hopefully itll fray less, we are gonna find out!

Few years ago I picked up a couple of spools of Spyderwire stealth braid on clearance at Walmart for $2.  It felt and smelled waxy and was sticky when I was spooling it up.  Casting performance of this line was terrible, but the durability was never an issue.  I used 15lb on my Stradic for a season and stripped it off.  I used 65 lb on my swimbait setup a Cardiff 301 and it too had horrible casting difference.  

 

I've never used suffix because I only buy line at Walmart, but would give it a shot.  I used PowerPro slick once and didn't like how it held a knot.

 

I still have 2 spools of the Spyderwire in case anyone wants to buy it for dirt cheap.

I've used power pro for years, had 832, lots of japanese braids and a couple of Polish ones too, but find more and more of my reels wearing spiderwire these days. The stealth is a very good braid. Well priced and robust. I do buy it on diameter though, rather than pound test as all berkley family braids over the years have had very peculiar pound test ratings. Firewire is hugely under rated, whiplash was colossally over rated, so I stick to buying by diameter and have no idea what the test rating on the package is for the lines I'm using at the moment.

Power Pro and 832 are good choices. My experience with Spider Wire wasn’t the best. 832 would be a better choice for spinning reels.

Glad to hear someone else say this.  I've beat the drum over and over that diameter, not lb. test should determine one's choice.

Agreed that power pro or 832 would be better than spiderwire. Power pro would be my vote. 

 

For affordable quality, try out kastking braid. I have it spooled on all rods this year and last. 10lb on spinning, 30lb and 50lb on casting. No issues and really affordable, 547 yard spools for $15 ish. It's 4 carrier braid but seems to hold up well so far.

After trying lots of brands I've settled on 832.  Quiet and trouble free. I use different colors to ID strength.

I use Suffix Performance Braid (not 832), original Power Pro, and Spiderwire Stealth. They are all interchangeable to me. I notice ZERO difference in performance, durability, handling/casting, etc.... between the three. I buy what ever the store I'm in has at the moment I need more line. If all 3 are in stock, I usually grab Power Pro.

I have fished almost every braid out there and I am using 832 now because I got a stupid good price on a bulk spool of green 10 lbs 832. My favorites are 832, original Power Pro, and Fins Windtamer I use them for different situations. I like Smackdown and Samurai braids as well but they cost to performance ratio keeps me from fishing them often.

 

My suggestion is see what you can get the best deal on so long as its not Spiderwire.

I’ve always had good luck with Spiderwire Stealth. I have some 15lb test on my finesse spinning rod I mainly use for shaky head or weightless Senkos.

 

I want to say that the 15lb test is around 6lb mono diameter.

power pro is prob my go to bc of its availability, I like suffix 832 as well but it loses its color pretty fast. my all time fav. tho is seagar smackdown however its expensive and no one around me carries it. seems to slice through the vegetation here better.

I HATE Power Pro. I think I'm the only one that has such a bad taste for it. My only complaint with 832 is it fades faster than any other brand. I do like and if in a bind will use Spiderwire Stealth but my go to line is Vicious no-fade braid (initial investment is high but it is the most durable line I've used. I can show you a picture of my spools that have had the same no fade on them since Jan 2017 and still looks and performs like brand new.) Then my next choice is Daiwa J-Braid X4.

I generally like the bright yellow Sufix 832. It is a great braid, others are, too, for sure.

 

But, if you want a lighter line for, say, your spinning reel, try the 14 lbs. test strength in Sufix Nanobraid. It has the same diameter as Sufix 832 in 10 lbs. That'd give you what many of us who are heavy users of spinning gear for finesse, consider to be the optimal size for a main line. At 14 lbs, you'd maintain this and get the greater safety margin of the higher test rating.

 

My guess is  14 lbs. Nanobraid has the general strength of 20+ lbs. braids.

 

Mentioned elsewhere, as of last week, I am now up to a LMB just shy of 6 lbs. on Sufix Nanobraid 2 lbs. test. I'm sort of seeing where and at what level something is able to break me off when I am using ultralight equipment and something big comes along. I never for even a moment thought I'd break the line using my spinning rod correctly, brought the big fish in rather easily. Would I have been able to hoist this bass up from 3 feet or so below my feet, swing it up to the dock or grab the line and do so? No. The line would likely have snapped.

 

I've got the 14 on another reel. Love it.

Interesting...I've got lime green 30# on my BFS rig and it's still got plenty color after a season and a half...and that rod gets used every time I'm on the water.

 

...I'd say it looks good as new...but I can't prove that...

Again, there is no "best".  Go with what you like.

Ok, thanks. I have some Power Pro Super Slick on one of my baitcasters (President XT), but for some reason it's a bit difficult to cast lighter baits. Line seems to tangle and loop a lot. I don't know if it's the reel or the line. Got the same line on the Tatula CT and it doesn't have any issues.

 

One thing I've discovered is that the casting works better if the spool isn't completely filled. I took some line off the Tatula and don't have any issues now. Maybe I should take some of the XT as well.

What lb. Test is the line?  I am not a fan of any braid under 30# as it all seems to have the problem more than the heavier weights.

I think that's a good call on your part.  Make a cast with an over-filled spool and watch what's going on there....it can cause problems...

I'm using 20lb super slick on both reels. Only problem with taking line off is then I'm left with this small amount of expensive line that I can't really use for anything.
