When deep cranking everyone says it’s important that have a lot line capacity because a long cast is necessary to get the crankbait to its deepest depth. What is a good cut off as far as line capacity? Would 150 yards of 12# line be enough or is more capacity needed?

I would think so, unless you’re going to be making 150+ yard casts.

150 yards of 12 lb mono is a good benchmark for baitcasting reel with 5:1 to 6.3:1 ratio. 50 yard cast you want about 2/3rds on the line on the reel  spool after making a cast to retain a decent IPT.
