Will this damage rig?

Seems to never fail, I get to a nice spot and either someone has recently sprayed, or soon comes along spraying for overgrown water vegetation.

 

I’m not sure of the ingredients, but it leaves a filmy blue residue for a while and you can definitely smell it.

 

Will the chemicals damage my line, rod, or reel?

If spraying for vegetation then it's just a herbicide, other than an oily feeling I wouldn't think it would cause any damage.

 

But I would wash my hands and equipment when I got done fishing, an ounce of prevention goes a long way

I can’t answer for sure but I’d also think something like that can’t be good.  Just hose your stuff down after the day and I would think that would prevent most if not all long term effects

Call the agency controlling your body of water and ask what type of aquacide they used and there two types: one is a bacteria based enzyme which depletes the nutrients the plants need and the other is an aquacide which destroys the plant.  Neither will harm your equipment nor the fish.

When aquatic plants are killed the process uses up the dissolved oxygen in the water as the decay and the dying plants no longer produce DO during daylight.

It could also be Blue Stone or copper sulfate to kill the algae bloom, this doesn't impact the plants or the fish but can shut down feeding activity for a few days.

Fish somewhere else.

I didnt even know that there was such a thing for pond vegetation, but all I keep thinking from this post is:

If I get lymphoma, it’s from all the spraying I did in my 20’s when I worked in landscaping.....

 

I’d stay away from the stuff like agent orange now.

We use it in our pond, I don’t know what it’s brand/name is but it’s copper sulfate. If it’s the same stuff it shouldn’t damage anything, it’s not harmful to the fish nor environment besides plants.
