NCBASSFEVER Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Hey guys, yesterday got me a 1996 Bass tracker pro 16, w/ 9.9 Merc. Foot trolling motor, excellent shape. The only problem is the motor, the guy was honest and said it runs fine in his driveway, but when you get in the river and try to go, it bogs down ( like the plug is fowling or oil to rich), so anyone know how I could trouble shoot this. This is my first bass boat and I am excited to get after 'em. Thanks for any help, Rob Quote
TopDog Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Sounds like fouled plugs! Check those first. Pull one out and see if its caked on black. Same thing was happening to me. $5 and It was good as new. Good luck! And Congrats on the new boat! Quote
Super User cart7t Posted January 9, 2008 Super User Posted January 9, 2008 Put a new plug in it and tear the carbs down and clean it. Make sure the gas in the tank is fresh. Change the squeeze bulb as well. Quote
tntitans21399 Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 My boat did that and there ended up being to much oil, so I would take the plugs out and see if they are all black from to much oil. If they are you can take them down to any auto store and they can get you a new set. I actually carry a extra set in the boat, just in case it happens out on the lake. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted January 9, 2008 Super User Posted January 9, 2008 Once you get it running right, use synthetic oil and treat all your gas with Seafoam. Quote
