SMB101 Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Looking to see which one would would best fit my new Dobyns DX745. Will be used for jigs in 1/2 - 3/4oz jigs and Carolina rigs. Do have Chonarch 150MGL and Curado I 7.1:1 though. Maybe can switch things around. But won't hesitate to buying another new or used. What's the thought. Quote
Stephen B Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 The Dobyns DX745 is a great rod that balances very well. I think either reel choice would balance out the setup very well. I personally have a DX745 F/H and a Shimano Bantam MGL HG and love the setup. I would put the Curado I on the DX745 as it is a 7.2:1 thus has a higher IPT than the 150 MGL, which will be beneficial for what you intend to do. However, it comes down to what works for you. Quote
TylerT123 Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 If you were going to use smaller, lighter jigs I’d go with the Chronarch but since you’re using heavier jigs, I’d use the Curado. 1 Quote
OnthePotomac Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 I have that same reel on a 7' MH Carbonlite used for jigs, any jigs, and it works great spooled with 15lb InvizX. I throw into a lot of heavy junk on the Potomac River. Quote
