Sharkicane Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Before I knew any better I bought a big spool of trilene xl smooth cast in #12. I’ve only used it to fill up one reel. I mainly use 15lb pline cxx and I don’t see me changing anytime soon. If I do I’d probably move to another copoly, braid or flouro. What do y’all do with spools you don’t plan to use? Sell it? Give it away? Quote
stepup Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Give it away. I seriously doubt you could sell it for much more than what ever shipping would be. Quote
Stephen B Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 I'd sell it locally to prevent paying shipping or donate it if you don't intend to use it or don't want to go through the hassle of selling. Quote
OnthePotomac Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 That is excellent line and I use it for small topwaters. For those who know, it will be easy to pass on by sale, or gift. Or keep for whenever. It will still be good 20 years from now if you store it in normal house temps out of the sun. I have a 20lb mono jumbo spool 20 years old and I am still using it for small swimbaits. 1 Quote
Mbirdsley Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Could use it for backing on braid or fluoro. The 2.99 zebco/eagle claw line has a purpose. On my braid rods I’ll spool up with the cheap line. Than I’ll use 50-75 yards of the expensive braid over top to fill the spool out. Quote
Beetlebz Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Aye, i second that. Use it as a spool backer at worst. Honestly I still use mono quite a bit for a few different things... always one spooled up with mono for topwaters and another one with heavy mono for hair jigs in the surf. Quote
