thinkingredneck Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Do you have a lure that you use that is no longer very popular? I sometimes use a creme worm pre-rigged with a prop, which I don't see a lot of people using. Quote
bassguytom Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 A tube. I use a tube all the time. It’s not fancy it’s not sexy it’s not the best new thing. It’s just extremely effective where I fish. 3 Quote

jbmaine Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 with all the new, great, topwater lures out today I still use a jitter bug. I've been using them for over 50 yrs. and the gurgle sound they make brings back so many memories, and is still effective. 12 Quote
detroit1 Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 I've retired most of my 70's/80's/90's baits except for some Cotton Cordells' Hot Spot (1 knocker) mostly because I had so many. They still catch 'em... 1 Quote

Mbirdsley Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 casting spoons. I a have gotten hooked on buying the new custom colors from Eppenger MFG. who is famous for the red and white daredevle. I have had a pretty good pike and bass bite on them so far this year. Just cast it out let it sink to desired depth and just reel it in. Casting spoons are hugely popular for casting off of the breakwaters for steel head and salmon. There is also some northern pike guys who still use them. However, the bass fishermen have pretty much all but, forgotten about them. the two big 1ozers on the left are the customs. 6 Quote
davecon Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Rapala Flat Rap. I think Rapala must be discontinuing them. Only place I can get them is Rapala online. They work well on bass but they are Snook Candy and snook are rough on plugs. I break down down and order a dozen or so at a time but their color selection is dwindling which makes me think they are on the verge of discontinuing them. can’t find anything that comes close for catching snook. I’d be interested in reading someone’s experience with this, it’s too goofy to catch me-the fisherman, but I guess it’s probably smaller than I think it is, and is basically this? ; Quote

I have not used one of those lures nor seen them in action but they look similar. The bat has rattles, a ton of vibration, and makes bubbles. If you change your retrieve rate, the action varies as well. The only thing that sucks is the wings bend so you have to bend them back at a 65° ish degree angle. 2 Quote

Right on brother!!!!!! I have a stash of them and in 3 colors, baby bass, clear, and coach dog. The Dying Flutter is a little more subtle than a devils horse and has a thinner profile and for some reason it hooks up close to 100% of the time. I can remember the last time I had a fish blow up on it that it didn't get hooked, if you ever find these at a flea market or yard sale don't hesitate to pick them up. 2 Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted June 21, 2018 Super User Posted June 21, 2018 Curly tail grubs, esp 5" Kalins and tubes, two baits that I think will keep fooling bass for a long time 2 Quote
ohboyitsrobby Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 This one. Breaking fish that won't bite is the most frustrating thing ever. This lure usually cures that plus the fish don't see it much around here. Quote
edfitzvb Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 +1 for the Jitterbug. Caught my PB 2 years ago on one. Also Devils Horse, Tiny Torpedo, and Helbender (on gravel beds for Smallmouth) Quote
