I’m looking at purchasing some

“Mustad KVD Elite 1X Strong 2X Short Shank Treble Red”

They are a little cheaper than the black nickel version named

“Mustad KVD 1x Strong 2x Short Triple Grip Treble Hook”

They appear identical aside from the word elite in the name. A review says that the red hooks are not as sharp as the black nickel version and that red hooks generally are not as sharp. Anyone know if this is true?

I use them often on front hooks for squarebills and jerkbaits. I have not noticed a diffrence in sharpness.

Same Hook - just red.

Catches a ton of fish for me.

Some of them are pretty decent too.

Hoping I'd hear from you because I knew you were a proponent of using them. Some have said on here that the hook does not seem as sharp out of the package for the red ones. Have you noticed that? If so do you have a hook sharpener you like that would work on both trebles and single hooks?

I have not recognized any difference between the black ones & the red ones.

Both sharp and I use them right out of the package.

When there is a need for touch up - and I do it often, I use this one

I have a model that's at least 10 years old now and it's got a blue handle; but I think it's basically the same deal.

btw - rather than hoping I see your thread, just pm me or add one of these deals to your post  @pauldconyers but with @A-Jay

Terrific, thanks again for your input! I had one final question of you about a different subject if you'd be so kind. In the past I have read how much of a proponent you are of using quality PFD. I wondered if you would check out this question I posted a few days ago and give me any option or advice you might have?

Elites are much sharper out of the box, hence the slightly higher price. Both colors are available in both versions.
