Super User Koz Posted June 18, 2018 Super User Posted June 18, 2018 It looks like you guys had great fun. We have a tradition where my dad, my son, and I go to breakfast on Father's Day morning. My son was 7 months old the first time we did this and we haven't missed our event in 13 years now. This year the plan was to go fishing afterward, but wouldn't you know it a thunderstorm rolled in just as we were heading out. After the storm passed it was hot, humid, and raining still and Dad didn't want to be outside. On the way back home my son and I stopped at a lagoon along the way and fished for 30 minutes and I landed one just under 4 pounds. So that was decent, but I was really hoping to get my Dad out with us. Hopefully he'll be up for it soon. Time is too short. Quote
Ratherbefishing75 Posted June 18, 2018 Author Posted June 18, 2018 I hope we keep this tradition going as long as you have and I hope you can get your dad out soon Quote
Dirtyeggroll Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Went fishing with my adopted dad. It was hot and windy and we didn’t catch any keepers, but he really enjoyed it and so did I. 1 Quote

MrFrost Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 My stepson and I enjoyed a nice breakfast that my wife and his fiance tag teamed for us, and then they sent us out fishing, and we did not complain. Well fed, and hit the lake. Literally, his first two casts and he hooked a largemouth each time. He was throwing a wacky rig, his favorite "go-to" and I couldn't be happier seeing that huge smile. He's an adult, 20 years old, with a child of his own now, and I still get that proud feeling looking over and seeing how excited he is to land a fish. That is almost better than catching my own...almost, lol. I managed to catch a couple myself, throwing a frog, a dink, and then a good size largemouth, who put up one hell of a fight! Then I was able to go spend a few hours with my Dad. I don't think days get any better. A pic of the fighter... 2 Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted June 18, 2018 Super User Posted June 18, 2018 Church, then lunch . Watched a western movie as my grandson mowed the yard. Went swimming for awhile .My daughter and her b.friend grilled steaks, baked taters and asparagus. While they were grilling I caught a small bass out back. Just relaxed after that and got a call from the oldest son whos out west. Got caught up with him and then watched the gators lose to T. Tech in baseball.? Quote
OCdockskipper Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Went fishing all day, then my kids came over for dinner. One of the gifts they gave me was 10 bowling pins, we set up an impromptu lane on a concrete path next to our driveway and used a basketball to roll a few games. Much tougher to do when you can't put your fingers in the ball & the ball bounces off the pins instead of going through them... Quote
NittyGrittyBoy Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Shift work... No fishing, just dreaming Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 20, 2018 Global Moderator Posted June 20, 2018 Mine was terrible, bad things happening and the whole family being sick, but losing a friend did remind me to appreciate the days because tomorrow is never a guarantee. I spent more time on the floor playing with my boys and noticing the little things than I have recently. 3 Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted June 21, 2018 Super User Posted June 21, 2018 Breakfast with my wife and son. Quick hour and a half bank fishing session on the river. Caught Rock Bass and bedding Bluegills like the one above. Lunch with my in-laws. Dinner with my parents. It was a great day with the family and getting a little fishing time in as well. Truly blessed. 2 Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted June 22, 2018 Super User Posted June 22, 2018 Was going to fish but this year we just went to the kids and did lots of hugging with the new little one and wrestling with the older ones. As mentioned .... time is precious and we are blessed with family and friends. Even if not on the water.....:) Quote
