One of my favorite local lakes has been in the grips of a carp spawn for almost a month now. The carp are all in shallow and making a huge commotion. Has anyone experienced anything like this? The fishing has been really down. Anything I can do besides go elsewhere? Thanks in advance

Yeah that happens every year here in NY. The carp just go around smelling all up on each other and swimming around splashing on top. I get startled sometimes as they come right up to me in my canoe and splash everywhere. Nothing you can do... try fishing for them they fight hard.  Bread works good

Yeah, they have been annoying on the river lately around here. Take advantage of it. It's the easiest time of the year to take a bunch of them with a bow.

What do you do with them after you shoot them with your bow?

Happens every year for me, starts late May and ends late June.

I still catch bass shallow when the carp are spawning still, they just tend to stay away from the immediate area and target the weed lines where the carp are not making such a racket.

Usually by the time the carp are spawning the bass are done spawning and they move to their post-spawn haunts which tend to be deeper water though. My suggestion is go deeper if the lake has that. 10-20fow and throw a creature on a carolina rig, or a heavy t rig.

I snagged this one with a lipless crank, an Asian lady took it for dinner. They are up close to shore, had thoughts of snagging one again.

Raccoons and vultures gotta eat too.

I know lots of people who take them for bait or to eat.

I experienced this problem today on a shallow marsh in Michigan , the carp were everywhere and I had a tough time figuring out the bass bite.
