Sunline defier armilo line?

Hey guys, I recall reading about the sunline shooter defier armilo line on this forum and guys seem to love it. Which applications are you using it for? Which lb test? Is it good for topwater and cranking? Is it considered a mono or copoly and does it float/sink?

Just today I decided to put it on my jig rod to try. 25lb test which is equivalent size wise to the 17lb Berkeley fluro I normally use. I'm still undecided on this application. The line is very manageable even for this high a test, I think I was able to skip farther than with fluro. I also have way more confidence in the knot strength. The hook set wasn't bad although it was a little softer than the fluro. I think this line would be great for crankbaits if you don't mind the cost

Sunline offers 2 Shooter Defier monofilament lines, Armilo Nylon and Defier Nylon copolymer line. Armilo is 1/2 the price of Defier Nylon copolymer line.

Armilo is very good line and like most mono line it tends to float, has exceptional knot strength and good casting performance. I use Armilo 25 lb for Swimbaits, wake baits, rats etc and 11 lb or 13 lb for crankbaits and small to medium size top water lures.

I have not tried the Defier copolymer line.

On @WRB's recommendation - I took & used the 25lb on several rigs on my last trip south of the border.

 A place where any weak link in my gear is quickly exposed & routinely abused.

Didn't happen ~ Line performed well.

Highly recommended by 4 out of 5 bassheads that use premium Mono.

A-Jay,  looks like that line is workin good for you! I wish they would make it in 6 or 8lb test, for finesse spin rigs

Been using this line on two setups in 13 and 15 lb for two years now.

I throw lures from 1/4 up to 1 oz on these two rods. Poppers, squarebills,  rattle traps, spinnerbaits ,wakebaits, 110 WP, etc. I believe it will work well with most applications.

Definitely less stretch than “traditional mono” which I like best, excellent knot strength and abrasion resistance also.

The only bad thing is it’s a little pricey.

Or 7 & 9, 30 lb would be good also as long as we are wishing.

I also use the 11lb and 25lb Armilo mono after reading about it here.  They are both excellent lines and I would use the 11lb a ton more if I could get it in a bulk spool.  The red mark at the halfway point is nice, but I run short mainlines with a lot of backing and I can never get three respools out the small spools.
