Tried the neko rig for the first time today. I had caught 18 fish in the morning with a ned rig and a wacky rig senko then things shut off. I had bought some neko rig stuff because I'm trying to do more finesse stuff this season. I caught 11 more fish on the neko rig when I had gone almost an hour with no bites using everything I could think of. So... I like the rig and wanna keep trying it out, but I was losing my worm and weight on every fish. How can I keep this from happening. I'm using a havoc bottom hopper and a Mustad TitanX Wacky/Neko Rig Hook 1/0. My wife will not be happy if I have to make weekly tw orders because I'm losing my worms and weights.

Use some type of setup to help keep the worm on the hook better (crossed o-rings, thread, etc.), or change to a more durable worm that won't tear up as easily. You'll still lose and go through some with this technique, but you can slow the pace with a few changes.

Yeah, the o-rings are pretty important part of a neko rig if you want to not throw $$ away on nail weights. I will not use them for wacky rigging stick baits traditional wacky style, because I fish Yum dingers 99% of the time, and I don't care if I  lose or ruin them, but I want that nail sinker back, so I use an o-ring 100% of the time with a neko rig.

Ok I have the o-rings for wacky rigging. Do I just need smaller ones for the neko? Because I did think of that but the ring just sat on it pretty loosely. And yeah I don't care about losing the worm but the nail sinker would be great to not loose on every fish lol.

No problem !

Instead of making weekly orders make a BIGGER monthly order.

On the other side, ít´s in the nature of the beast that certain things may not always go as we want to go, with original GYCB baits it´s almost a bait per cast, I think the most fish I´ve got out of a senko were two fish.....

You may try something different in the way you are rigging the bait, I´m not against O rings but I don´t think they are the best solution, the bait may not move as seductiveley.......... or bite the bullet and order those Neko Rig Master straight from Japan ! ( sooner or later you will try the honeys of JDM stuff and then your transformation to the dark side will be complete my young padawan  ...... muahahahahahahaha ( evil laff ! ) )

There you go, Neko Rig Master: https://www.ebay.com/p/VARIVAS-Neko-Rig-Master-Black-Size-L-8141/1248187639

Depends on what your Neko rigging, the regular "senko" sized o-rings work great, obviously for Neko rigging senko/dinger sized baits, but they are too loose on a worm. I went to Napa and had them bust out the o-ring kits, and took one of the wacky tool sized ones for reference, plus the finesse worms I wanted to neko rig, and found ones that stay on tight.....but for the life of me, I can't remember the size.

T tig the middle of worm with EWG or off set hooks, then feel free to cast it into the nastiest cover you can find.  and for pete's sake stop by home depot and buy 3 different size nails (finishing or framing).

I prefer little 1/4" bits of shrink tubing over o-rings most of the time.  I use Trickworms and 6" Jellyworms most of the time and I cannot get o-rings to hold well on those worms.  I need to go to a good hardware store with some worms and look at different sizes of rings.

Also, the body of a Sharpie makes a perfect o-ring tool for Neko rigging, thinner finesse worms fit perfectly and you can cut the tube to place the ring where ever you want with the worm bottomed out in the tip.

I haven't fished the neko much since it's doesn't do well around structure, but I agree with the previous posters about using an O ring to help the worm last a bit longer. Secondly, I don't use the dedicated neko weights. I have so many loose screws laying around that I find some that are of a reasonable weight that I like, and just screw those into the front as weights. If I lose them, oh well! In bulk they are way cheaper than the nail weights, plus they tend to stay in a lot better.

use o rings and hook the rin=ng not the worm and use bio spawn eco sticks they are great neko baits

If you’re using trick worm style baits, go to jack in the box and grab a couple clear straws. Cut them into small pieces, then slide a piece of the straw over the worm to where you want your hook. They fit snug but will slide over the worm, it’s just about invisible once they’re on there. Run your hook through the plastic and worm and out the other side. You’re done losing them then.

O-Rings or shrink tubing, and as ETX92 mentioned, clear straws(I prefer Costco) for Zoom trick worms (or other worms that'll fit in the straw).

Use Zinkerz from Z-man. They will last for many fish.... even all day. Miliken shows how to rig it in this video. I would add to heat a paperclip wire with a lighter and melt a channel for your nail weight in the end of the worm. Then use super glue so the weight will stay put. You can set up a whole package off the water.
