Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 16, 2018 Global Moderator Posted June 16, 2018 A friend and fellow LEO from my last department was shot and killed today, leaving behind 2 grown kids and 1 youngster. The other deputy she was transporting with was also shot and killed. They were transporting a violent inmate when they got into a struggle and he was able to gain control of one of their weapons and shoot both of them, the inmate was also shot but is expected to survive. Such a sad thing and it's almost a daily occurrence that gets almost no attention. RIP Roehner and King, it's going to be a rough next couple days trying to go to work and pretend like everything is okay. 5 Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted June 16, 2018 Super User Posted June 16, 2018 I hate to hear that man. I am not an officer, but I am firefighter and I have experienced high stress situations with individuals in wrecks, fires, etc. The stress of an officer is something I can only imagine. Any routine traffic stop is a potential danger. I have a ton of respect for the men in blue. 1 Quote

Super User Gundog Posted June 16, 2018 Super User Posted June 16, 2018 Its sad to hear about this. Having law enforcement officers in my family, news like this always hits home. My prayers go out to the families and friends of these officers. Bluebasser, I know its not going to be easy to just carry on. I hope you and the officer's other friends can find strength in each other and the memories of your friend. 1 Quote

Super User Darren. Posted June 16, 2018 Super User Posted June 16, 2018 That is awful news, Blue. Very sorry to hear. I know and have known many officers and first responders. You all deserve so much respect for what you do. Thank you! I wish their families peace in such an awful situation. 1 Quote
je1946 Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 Sorry for your loss. Your right the media doesn't post much about these incidents. It pains me to see how many in our country have little regard for law enforcement. Yes there are some bad apples, but most are good and do a tough job serving and protecting out loved ones. 1 Quote
Russ E Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 It was on every local news channel yesterday. Sorry you lost a friend. It is sad that this type of thing goes nearly unnoticed on the national news. I think people often forget the sacrifices law enforcement officers make. 1 Quote
