Haven't heard or read about this reel until about 20 minutes ago. I've always loved the sound those reels make and for the msrp of $250 It's gonna be hard to fight the bait monkey off. Is this new news? Or am I just behind?

It came out about a year ago.

The Curado with the digital chip braking system? Or the Curado k?

i have to question the need for these digital controlled casting reels.

once you learn to use a baitcaster you never backlash anyway.

I have the Curado 200i and it casts amazing with no backlash.

the question is, how much is it?

The MSRP on it is $249.99, OP states this too.

Supposedly RH will arrive in September and the LH will arrive November.

You can actually pre-order off of tacklefreaks.com, Shimano even gave him one to do a review on.

It doesn't look like you can adjust the line settings(F, PE, N) internally like previous Shimano DC reels. But you can open the plate so there must be some kind of adjustment inside..

Settings on the adjustment wheel are 1-4.

1 - for long casting

2 - for braided line

3 - for fluoro

4 - for skipping and heavy wind

I'm no expert on this, just regurgitating info I've read..

Might be hard to make a decision between the Curado DC and the Scorpion DC.

The Curado DC has micro module gears and the Scorpion DC doesn’t, plus Shimano will have Curado DC parts for a year longer than the Scorpion. If it was me, I’d go Curado.

Good call and info.

I'm renting the Curado 200k right now and it is pretty d**n smooth.

I assume the Curado DC will feel very similar to the 200k.

Just got an email from American Legacy about these.  Basically a K with the DC braking system.  $250, available in August!

The Curado I is an amazing reel, it's smooth, it's durable, it's a workhorse. But as far as casting distance goes, there are cheaper Shimano reels that cast further as a fact, and I'm sure there are plenty of others.

The DC reels aren't necessarily about backlash. They're about optimizing spool tension and braking power to get the best possible cast. The casting ability really isn't comparable to the standard Shimano reels -- from distance, to the power required to make casts -- but yeah, they're less likely to blowup while casting as well.

In this fast moving world we now live in these companies have to constantly offer new and different products to feed our overzealous enthusiasm and desire to spend $$$$$$$.

I know that personally these websites have ruined me with all the new latest, greatest, gadgets.............

This is something that will be available to us state side correct? Or JDM?

Pretty sure Shimano is not included in those sales. Good deal if I'm wrong!  I want one. lol

Unless something has changed, if you call in, everything is on sale.
