kens Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 What does everyone prefer to use with crank baits. Any good Fluorocarbon that wont break the bank? How about a good mono as a substitute. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted June 15, 2018 Super User Posted June 15, 2018 Seaguar Invisx is a good quality FC at a reasonable price. Tatsu, while expensive is the very best I've used. Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 15, 2018 Super User Posted June 15, 2018 Crankbaits you want a good casting line, FC offers no advantage. Berkley Big Game mono 10-12 lb is $9 for 1,500 yards, excellent casting line and good for crankbaits. Sunline Defier Armilo 11-13 lb Nylon is more expensive and good casting line. Tom 1 Quote
CroakHunter Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Fo small bodied cranks up to about a 3xd I like seaguar senshib10lb. For lipless cranks and medium/large cranks I like 12lb sunline assassin. for magnum cranks like 8-10xd, magnum squarebills, I like 30lb daiwa j-braid x4 Quote

Hulkster Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 I love Sufix Siege 12 pound test smoke green colour. love the stuff. I even use it to tie up my wif...er never mind. 1 Quote
Russ E Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 it is all personal preference. some people will tell you to only use flourocarbon. While others will tell you to use only mono or copoly. I catch fish with both. Good flourocarbon is usually expensive. If you are on a budget I would try a good hybrid line. Lately I have been trying highseas grand slam. it is a flouro coated copoly. So far I am impressed. Quote
LonnieP Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 I use 12 lb Mccoy Xtra clear for cranks. Casts great and pretty strong. Quote
FishDewd Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 I like copolymer myself... when in doubt, use the copo! Quote
Super User NHBull Posted June 15, 2018 Super User Posted June 15, 2018 Sunline Defier Armilo 11 has treated me very well this year for cranking. This weekend I will be trying it on my jerkbait set up. A little line N lure and your good to go. ....also have some Gamma polyflex on the way for testing and will report back Quote
riverbasser Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 12 big game for me. As WRB put it, I see no advantage to use fluro in cranking applications. Quote
Steve1357 Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Academy seems to be the only one that has Sufix Tritanium on shelf. Only a few more bucks than BigGame and it's copolymer. 14lb almost impossible to break by hand compared to 14lb mono. Really like the 10lb for plugs, 14lb for plastics so far. Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted June 17, 2018 Super User Posted June 17, 2018 I'm using Berkley Trilene fluorocarbon in 15lb test this year for cranks (I usually fish square bills and that's often fish around weeds and rocks so the heavier line helps ensure I get my baits back). The knot strength is very good with this line as I have yet to lose a bait using a 5-7 turn uni knot and I've got some pretty nasty snags at times. Quote
